Welsh Ministers provide final consent for Wales’ pioneering floating wind project! Welsh Ministers have granted a Section 36 consent with deemed planning permission to Blue Gem Wind to build and operate the Erebus project. The news follows the recent decision by Natural Resources Wales to provide the joint venture between TotalEnergies Company and Simply Blue Group a marine licence. First Minister of Wales, Rt Hon Mark Drakeford, said: “We are ambitious for the floating offshore wind sector in Wales – we believe it has the potential to deliver sustainable sources of energy into the future and it is also a once-in-a-generation opportunity to open up new markets for local suppliers and to create thousands of high-quality jobs in Wales. “The Erebus project has the potential to show the world that Wales and the Celtic Sea can deliver renewable energy alongside the sustainable management of our marine resources.“In determining the marine license and the planning consents, the Welsh Government and our partners in Natural Resources Wales have enabled this project to move forward to apply for subsidy support from the UK Government. “I urge the UK Government to do its part through the Contracts for Difference process to drive the industry forward by working with the Erebus team to secure the first floating offshore wind project in Welsh waters, bringing jobs and green energy to our communities.” OWC ITPEnergised MarineSpace Ltd, an ERM Group Company #future #sustainable #offshorewind #renewableenergy #greenenergy #team

Best of luck to Kerry Hayes in the upcoming RenewableUK board elections!
The voting for the RenewableUK Board Elections is now open. Our very own Kerry Hayes, Portfolio Director of Offshore Wind is standing for this election and is seeking members support for her candidacy. Kerry’s dedication to transforming our energy systems perfectly aligns with RenewableUK's mission, and her diverse skillset promises to be a valuable addition to the board. If elected Kerry aims to: - Complement existing board skills to support RenewableUK's mission of building our future energy systems to achieve net zero. - Be a strong advocate for floating wind given extensive experience working on innovation and development in new markets. - Continue advocacy and support for the renewable energy sector, building on past accomplishments as Chair of the Shadow Board for RenewableUK. - Advocate for inclusivity and diversity, recognizing the importance of all voices in creatively addressing the complex challenges of achieving net zero. Voting will conclude on the 15th of May and we urge members to vote for Kerry, as a leader in the renewable energy sector. The Simply Blue Group team would like to extend our utmost support for Kerry and her candidacy and wish her the very, very best of luck! 👏

Another fab day getting the future generations inspired about some of the solutions we have to fight climate change including floating wind in the Celtic Sea. Great to highlight the range of exciting careers, watching the future engineers successfully build multiple floating platforms from OffshoreWind4Kids and walk around the platforms with the excellent VR kits from Simply Blue Group. Can't wait to see thier future projects actually get tested at META: Marine Energy Test Area with Marine Energy Wales. https://lnkd.in/e3F4B-BP

Good to get out in the winter sun :)
It was great for some of the team to get away from the desks last week and do some tree planting with Angle Community Council. The shrubs and trees were chosen to improve biodiversity and we are thankful that the community was super supportive in providing the planting locations, warm drinks, and winter sunshine! Great to announce we have shared Erebus-related windspeed data with META: Marine Energy Test Area to help the development of Wales' Marine Energy Test Area. Mike Scott “We installed a met mast on the Angle Peninsula in early 2021 to understand wind speed and other weather-related data for the development of our Erebus floating wind project. Working with Marine Energy Wales we are happy to provide data we have collected to support the ongoing development plans at META .” Saul Young, META Operations Manager said: “We are pleased to be collaborating with Blue Gem Wind and to be sharing data in this way. Not only will it help improve our understanding of conditions at the East Pickard Bay site, but it will also help support the development of the sector by providing technology developers and researchers accurate data with which to plan their innovative projects at META.
