Røros kommune Municipality and the Røros Region Business Garden have kicked off an innovative test phase under the Interreg project Green Flyway 2.0, aiming to revolutionize food delivery and potentially enhance home care services through drone technology. In collaboration with drone operator Aviant the test period runs from October 1 to December 1, marking the first time food delivery via drones has been tested in Norway. The pilot program will see drones deliver meals to residents of Glåmos and Brekken, two rural areas within the municipality. Participating residents will receive dinner at designated pick-up points: Coop Glåmos and Coop Brekken. The initiative is also open to locals interested in receiving drone-delivered meals, with the municipality actively seeking participants. Swiss drone technology startup Voliro has raised $12 million in Series A funding, a significant milestone in its mission to transform industrial inspections and maintenance through aerial robotics. Led by Cherry Ventures, the investment round also saw participation from business angels, family offices, and a conventional debt facility. Skydweller Aero , a leader in solar-powered uncrewed aircraft, has announced the successful completion of an uncrewed autonomous flight test campaign of its groundbreaking Skydweller Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). Project Kingfisher Set to Enhance Water Quality Monitoring in UK Drones are being deployed to enhance water quality monitoring in coastal waters and estuaries as part of Project Kingfisher, a world-first drone trial. Spearheaded by NWG (Northumbrian Water Group) in collaboration with Makutu, RS Hydro and Skyports Drone Services, this innovative project has entered its second phase, promising to streamline water sampling and data collection. The trial aims to showcase how uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) can support more efficient water quality assessments by automating data collection in hard-to-reach areas. UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía has announced that SATNUS (a company formed by GMV, Sener Aeroespacial and Tecnobit-Grupo Oesía) has counted on its collaboration in the ambitious European program Future Combat Air System (FCAS). This program aims to develop a future-generation weapon system (NGWS), which will integrate a new generation of manned fighters (NGF) and multiple remotely piloted air systems (Remote Carriers or RC), all interconnected through a Combat Cloud (CC). Within the FCAS program, UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía participates in Pillar number 3 of Remote Operators through a subcontract with SATNUS Technologies SL, which is in charge of maturing technologies and minimizing risks in the development of remotely manned elements of the future generation weapon system. Airbus GmbH is leading this pillar at the European level, with the participation of MBDA as the lead company from France and SATNUS as the lead company from Spain.
