Beneath the landmark chimney at the heart of Holmes Mill in Clitheroe, our dedicated team of brewers craft a collection of cask beers combining the traditional qualities of authentic British cask ale with more innovative techniques associated with contemporary craft beer styles. Bowland Brewery is an independent brewer of premium cask ales based on the edge of the beautiful Forest of Bowland – 300 square miles of pristine upland landscape on the Lancashire/ Yorkshire border. From its genesis Bowland Brewery has sought inspiration from the breathtaking scenery and wildlife of the Bowland AONB, hence the strapline: Ales of Outstanding Natural Beauty Bowland Brewery was established as a microbrewery in a former milking parlour on the outskirts of the beautiful village of Waddington in 2003 and swiftly established a loyal following among the discerning cask ale aficionados of rural Lancashire. In 2015, the brewery relocated to a new, purpose-built brew house at the heart of a historic Victorian cotton mill in the market town of Clitheroe. Our cask ales are inspired by the wonderfully wild landscapes of Bowland and reflect wildlife artist Clare Brownlow to develop distinctive brand identities for our core beers. Clare’s unique approach uses pheasant feathers to create an unmistakable ‘splatter’ effect lending motion and dynamism to her subjects. A celebration of seasonal flavours and events are embodied in the seasonal range. Our core range and seasonal ales take pride of place on the bar in the neighbouring Bowland Beer Hall – which was named Best Pub Conversion in the prestigious 2018 CAMRA Pub Design Awards. The bottle range reflects our core product offering and can be found on the shelves of Booths, SPAR and may award winning retailers.
