Would you like to join the Berkshire Business Board? Berkshire's six unitary local authorities have agreed to establish a new Berkshire Prosperity Board focused on driving economic growth and prosperity in the region and beyond. The inaugural board meeting held in June 2024 marked an exciting step towards a new partnership between Government and Berkshire. The creation of the Berkshire Business Board is central to initiatives, aiming to shape the local economy's future direction and prioritize growth ambitions. By collaborating with government and securing additional funding, we seek to invest in critical infrastructure, generate high-quality jobs, and equip businesses with the necessary skills for success. Business leaders across Berkshire are encouraged to join the Business Board, working alongside local authorities, government officials, and education partners to influence decisions, drive innovation, and foster growth in the region. This is a unique opportunity for industry leaders to apply their acumen and expertise and contribute to initiatives that shape the economic landscape. Interested in becoming a board member of the Berkshire Business Board? Your insights and expertise are invaluable in steering economic growth. Reach out to Shasta Parveen, strategic programme manager at shasta.parveen@rbwm.gov.uk for more information. Applications close on Monday, 28 October 2024. Let's work together to drive prosperity and innovation in Berkshire.

Earlier this month we thanked more than 90 of our staff who have worked for Bracknell Forest Council for over 20 years! This is the first time we have celebrated commitment and longevity to the council since 2018, so anyone who reached the 20-year milestone between then and now was recognised. Chief executive, Susan Halliwell, said: "It was great to see so many of our staff come together and talk about their long-service and dedication to the council and our community. It was an honour and privilege to say thank you on behalf of the organisation and the borough."

We proudly hosted British Lymphology Society's National Lymphaletics event at Bracknell Leisure Centre last weekend! Local families came together for a day of sports and support on managing Lymphoedema - a chronic condition that causes tissue swelling due to a compromise lymphatic system. Special guests with the condition spoke to the families about their journeys, including social media influencers Bella Roberts and DJ Arun Bhambra, as well as Paralympian and 2024 bronze medallist, Ndidikama Okoh! 👏 Read more about the day in the comments below.

Adult social care held its first Jobs at First Sight event last Thursday at our offices at Time Square. Over forty people attended on the night to meet the different teams, find out what they do for our residents and discuss opportunities within the council. The teams received over 50 CVs from potential candidates wanting to join the team. We are now working through these to match people to the current vacancies and formal interviews will be offered over the next few days. To find out more about job opportunities, see the link in comments.
