Campaigning for safer streets and delivering the National Road Victim Service
About us
Brake is a road safety charity established in 1995 to stop the needless death, injury and pollution happening on our streets every day. We offer free tools, resources and support for communities, schools and businesses, running global campaigns including #RoadSafetyWeek each November and the Global Fleet Champions initiative for at-work drivers. Through our National Road Victim Service, we offer support to all those affected by road death and injury, as well as the professionals that care for them.

We are delighted to announce that we have received new funding from The Road Safety Trust to provide our free support books for children bereaved in road crashes and their adult carers. 'Someone has died in a road crash' is a picture book for children to read with adults after a road death. It uses simple language and colourful pictures to communicate important messages and encourage open and honest discussion between children and their carers. 'Helping children bereaved by road death' is a guide for adults who are caring for bereaved children. Both books are given to bereaved families by their police contact after a road death and are available to download for free on the Brake website at https://lnkd.in/eAkXVHpV. The new funding from The Road Safety Trust ensures a continuous supply of both books to families bereaved by road crashes for the next 12 months.
