The 75th anniversary of the Bristol Brabazon's maiden flight has received fantastic media coverage, with features in Bristol24/7, BBC, and ITV. Our Head of Collections, Amy Seadon, also spoke with Claire Carter on BBC Radio Bristol about the temporary display and the history of this iconic aircraft. The display highlights the Brabazon’s remarkable engineering achievements and its pivotal role in the development of Concorde at Filton. #OnThisDay in 1949, the Bristol Brabazon took to the skies for the first time. 75 years ago today, a small army of technicians swarmed Filton airfield, hundreds of cyclists gathered at vantage points, and around 10,000 more people arrived to witness the first flight of what promised to be a new era of passenger travel. Designed to be the ocean liner of the sky, the Bristol Brabazon featured onboard cinemas, cocktail bars, lavish lounges, and separate sleeping quarters, setting a new standard for luxury in air travel. Visit Aerospace Bristol to find out more about the Brabazon and how its ground-breaking design and development at Filton paved the way for the legendary Concorde. https://lnkd.in/eBcBfaQq
