About us
Aerospace Bristol is a new industrial heritage museum in Filton that inspires and entertains today's and future generations through the stories and achievements of Bristol’s aerospace industry - past, present and future. Open now, the museum's show-stopping centrepiece is Concorde Alpha Foxtrot. Designed, built and tested in Bristol, she was the last Concorde to be built and the last to fly. The new museum has been planned by the Bristol Aero Collection Trust and has significant support from BAE Systems, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, South Gloucestershire Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

#OnThisDay in 1938, the Bristol Beaufort Type 152 made its first flight, piloted by Captain Uwins. The Beaufort was a twin-engine torpedo bomber, widely used by the Royal Australian Air Force. Shortly before World War II, production began at Filton, with 100 Beauforts delivered when squadrons were formed in late spring 1940. A total of around 2,000 Beauforts were produced in England and Australia, including 1,429 Mks I and II built at Filton and Banwell. 📷BAE Systems

This #WorldSpaceWeek, we celebrate Bristol’s incredible achievements in space exploration🚀 Bristol's space work began in 1956 when the company started building solid fuel rocket motors used for the Skylark programme and other projects. The Skylark sounding rocket series was the UK's longest-running space programme, beginning in 1957 and concluding in 2005. There were 441 Skylark launches from six sites around the world. Bristol played a significant role in several key space projects, including Envisat, the ESA's Environmental Monitoring Satellite; Hubble's Photon Detector Assembly and Solar Arrays; and Giotto, the ESA's first deep space probe. 📸 Skylark launch, Woomera, Australia, 1972.
