Building an accessible, equitable fund to help community food projects across Bristol fight food insecurity.
About us
1 in 12 households experience food insecurity, struggling to access enough food to eat. BLFF fundraises from people and businesses across Bristol, and awards much-needed accessible funding to community food projects that are fighting food insecurity across our city. Together we can build a city of food justice, where everyone can access good, nutritious, affordable and culturally appropriate food. We use participatory grantmaking, which gives decision-making power of the grants to people with lived experience of food insecurity. In our first funding round, we raised and award £60,000 to 18 projects. With food insecurity rising rapidly we're aiming to raise and distribute £150,000 every year. We won't stop until Bristol is a city of food justice, where everyone can access good, affordable, culturally appropriate food. Join us!

Lovely post from Redcatch Community Garden, celebrating their Bristol Local Food Fund grant 💫 "What makes this funding especially meaningful is that the projects receiving grants were chosen by a citizens' panel of Bristolians with lived experience of food insecurity. This approach, called participatory grantmaking, empowers communities by giving them decision-making power over where the funds go. We’re so proud to be part of such an inclusive and community-driven initiative!" https://lnkd.in/ei78YB5f

There are so many incredible community food projects in our city, delivering vital and innovative work that's tailor to the needs of local communities - we're so glad to be able to fund Caring in Bristol's Bristol Goods project. Help us make Bristol a city of food justice by becoming BLFF supporter: https://lnkd.in/erXkYK-u
Food insecurity is a significant issue in Bristol, with two of the UK’s top 10 food deserts located in the city. At Caring in Bristol, we understand how closely linked food insecurity is with housing insecurity, and that’s why our Bristol Goods food clubs were created. These food clubs provide access to nutritious food, alongside a welcoming space where people can seek housing support and advice. This project wouldn’t be possible without the incredible involvement of donors like the Bristol Local Food Fund, who have generously supported our project. We were delighted to see their vital work recognised by the BBC, as their efforts are making a real difference. You can read more about their work here: https://lnkd.in/etRwCQJV We are immensely grateful for their support, which helps us continue to address these important issues in our community.
