Delivering Army Capability

About us

The British Army's Programmes Directorate is at the heart of delivering the Army's modernisation programme: be it the latest equipment, key logistical support, or developing new programmes. We have a key role in enabling the Army’s purpose: 'to fight and win wars on land' by delivering Army capability and realising the full potential of the Future Soldier. The Army contributes significantly to UK prosperity and growth and through the Directorate, it is revitalising the land industrial base through the Land Industrial Strategy. The next decade of vehicle, digital, infrastructure and equipment delivery will see at least 11 new platforms and nine major upgrades which will support 10,000 UK jobs directly, and a further 10,000 indirectly.’ We will keep you informed of progress through these pages.

British Army – Programmes are recruiting. We have two further vacancies based either in Andover or Bristol. Our Armoured Cavalry Programme is recruiting for a Project Delivery Professional to join the team as a Programme Integration Lead. We are looking for a highly organised individual who will be a key member of the leadership team, focusing primarily on providing insight information and support in a Project Delivery setting. The successful candidate will be pivotal in making sound judgements on priorities, triaging and progressing urgent activities, communicating direction and requirements from the leadership team and being motivated to drive change at all levels. Full details can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eHtYZpiZ We are also recruiting for a Chinook Safety manager with a strong understanding of Air System Safety Case Management to support the delivery of a complex capability to the front line. The successful candidate will be the lead point of contact for all safety matters throughout the acquisition phase of the programme. This is a niche role working in the Aviation safety space, therefore we are looking for interested candidates who can demonstrate an existing understanding of the aviation/air safety process and regulations. Whilst we would not expect candidates to hold specific knowledge or experience in Chinook aircraft, we are interested to hear from you if this is a passion of yours. Full details can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eGxdJaYV Closing Date for both posts 06/09/2024 #Jobs British Army #ProgrammeManagement #ProjectManagement UK Civil Service #jobsinAndover #JobsinBristol

The first Army vehicles have rolled into a new state-of-the-art storage facility at MOD Ashchurch, delivered under the Vehicle Storage and Support Programme (VSSP). VSSP is delivering storage and maintenance infrastructure to support thousands of British Army vehicles and associated equipment. The first storage facility is now in service, providing immediate capability to the Field Army with controlled humidity environment storage for around 600 vehicle platforms. The official opening of the building took place last week, with TROJAN breaking the tape as the first vehicles began rolling through the doors. Two years on from the VSSP contract signing in summer 22, the Programme continues to deliver to schedule – and at pace. The first completed asset - an admin building for site personnel – was handed over earlier this month; 2 more buildings are due to be completed this year, and 6 additional buildings are currently in construction. All of this has been achieved alongside enabling demolitions and with minimal disruption to site operations. Thanks to the successful collaboration between the joint team from Army Basing & Infrastructure and Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), VSSP continues supporting the Field Army to ensure the readiness of the fleet. #ProgrammeManagement #ProjectManagement

We recently marked the second anniversary of the Vehicle Storage and Support Programme (VSSP) – a new facility to protect and preserve the British Army's equipment and fleet capability. Two years on and the British Army and Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) are celebrating Army vehicles moving into the first new facility at MOD Ashchurch. With the first storage facility now in service – providing humidity-controlled storage for around 600 vehicles, our team is focussed on the delivery of the rest of the programme, this includes an admin building for site personnel handed over earlier this month, two further buildings to be completed this year and a further six in the construction phase. #VSSP #BetterTogether

Following a successful transition period from a 20-year-old Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contract that expired this month, the British Army’s new contract for delivering a Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) capability went live this month.  The Interim Capability Solution contract placed with KBR, Inc., as part of the wider Material Distribution Land 25 Programme, secures a HET capability for the next three years. The capability is a vital enabler for logistic movement including the transportation of heavy armour, such as the Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank, from operating bases to areas of operations both in the UK and abroad. #ProgrammeManagement Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) #Tank #HET

ZODIAC has reached its Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Drop 1 milestone and the team recently took the opportunity to provide a demonstration to members of British Army Headquarters. ZODIAC will be integral to digitalising the Army’s Sensor-Decider-Effector chain, increasing our lethality by faster decision-making, lower the cognitive burden on operators, and more efficient use of the Army’s resources. ZODIAC utilises cutting-edge technology and provides the platform for the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) into the Army’s ISTAR processes, increasing the quality of decision-making and speeding up the tempo of operations. The picture shows the programme's Senior Responsible Owner (SRO) Brigadier Matthew Birch explaining the system to the gathered audience. #ProgrammeManagement #Projectmanagement

The Royal Engineers Combat Water Supply System (CWSS) journey continues…. In line with the Land Industrial Strategy #LIS and as part of the British Army’s modernisation agenda, alongside our partners in Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) and KBR, Inc. Swindon, we have accelerated the delivery of a bulk water production capability to enhance our NATO readiness commitment for the Field Army. Through a training package, designed and delivered through KBR, our Royal Engineer soldiers can deliver potable and palatable water at scale on Operations. The CWSS containerised system can generate up to 12,000 litres of water per hour in theatre for direct issue or packaging. The CWSS eliminates the need for bottled water and unburdens the strategic logistic chain to focus on warfighting supply. #ProgrammeManagement #ProjectManagement
