SZA’s journey from college dropout to record-breaking, genre-defying, Pyramid Stage-performing global phenomenon is all but complete. What remains, Amel Mukhtar discovers in the December 2024 issue of #BritishVogue, is a deeply personal struggle of never-ending self-discovery. “I am making music from a more beautiful place,” says #SZA, as she prepares to release her feverishly anticipated new album. “From a more possible place versus a more angsty place. I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity.” Read the interview here, and see the full story in the new issue, on newsstands 19th November: https://lnkd.in/es-tHV_T

    • Image shows SZA, a Black woman with her natural hair brushed out, is visible from the knees up as she gazes into the camera while standing against a neutral studio backdrop. She is wearing a lime-green cable-knit cardigan and matching skirt as she poses with her right hand in her hair and her left arm raised in front of her chest, displaying her bright red nails.

When #PixieGeldof got married back in 2017, she knew she wanted her wedding dress to be joyous. There was only one man for the job: #PierpaoloPiccioli, Valentino’s creative director at the time. “My wedding dress was just the best thing ever,” the model recalls on The Closet Digest, #BritishVogue’s podcast sponsored by Vinted that explores the stories behind our clothes. “I love it so much and I kept it hanging in my sitting room for like a year and a half.” Listen to the episode in full, here: https://lnkd.in/eEzxy6B3

When Chioma Nnadi was appointed as #BritishVogue’s head of editorial content last year, one headline read, “The Devil Wears Sambas” – a reference to her go-to Adidas trainers. Did the implication that she doesn’t dress the way one might expect a Vogue editor to bother her? “I thought it was quite funny actually,” Nnadi reveals on The Closet Digest, #BritishVogue’s podcast sponsored by Vinted, which explores the stories behind our clothes. “I like to defy people’s expectations of what a Vogue editor is and how a Vogue editor shows up.” Listen to the episode in full, here: tinyurl.com/mry7a2sr

Over the weekend, the halls of Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London played host to Vogue’s annual conference, #ForcesOfFashion. #ChristopherKaneIsamaya Ffrench, Stella McCartney and #JohnGalliano all studied at the fashion school and – to the joy of current students – returned for the occasion, venturing upstairs to the design studios where, surrounded by sewing machines, Galliano signed his name in pink chalk on a wall. Other highlights from the day included a Runway Walk Off, curated by renowned choreographer James Cousins and emceed by Miss Jason , a designer workshop that saw Conner Ives and Feben create a runway look live, and pre-talk beauty touch-ups courtesy of MAC Cosmetics. Cécile Wickmann's love of pre-loved fashion can be traced all the way back to her childhood, when she would be dragged along to second-hand stores by her mother, who went to resell pieces from her wardrobe that she no longer wore. “I still remember it took forever,” Wickmann recalls on The Closet Digest, #BritishVogue’s new podcast sponsored by Vinted. “She would unpack everything, then she and the owner would discuss every single piece.” As for her best ever investment? That would have to be her Hermès Kelly bag, which she also bought second-hand. Listen to the episode in full, here: tinyurl.com/mucrasyw

#AmberValletta rose to fame as a model during the ’90s, before turning her hand to acting in the Noughties. It was during this period that she wore the red-carpet look that she cringes over the most: a sheer leopard-print halter-neck top by DOLCE&GABBANA, which she wore with mid-rise jeans. “Nobody had stylists yet,” she recalls on The Closet Digest, #BritishVogue’s new podcast sponsored by Vinted, which delves deep into the stories behind our clothes. “The whole thing is just so bad.” Listen to the episode in full, here: https://lnkd.in/dQkdU2Cj

#SheilaAtim’s wardrobe is predominantly black, partly because she’s leaning into her “goth-leaning, witchy era” right now. But the actor simply couldn’t resist the red Versace Medusa slingbacks that she walked past one day. “I saw them for the first time in the shop window, and I stopped in my tracks,” she recalls on The Closet Digest, #BritishVogue’s new podcast sponsored by Vinted, which digs into the stories behind key pieces in our wardrobes. • [Image description: Saoirse Ronan, a white woman with her blonde hair tied back, is visible from the knees up. She stands in profile, gazing off to the left of the frame, wearing a ruched scarlet top and high-waisted, belted trousers in black. She is leaning slightly forwards, her arms spread, palms facing upwards. Behind her is a sky-like backdrop. The set design gives the impression that she is being viewed through a circular silver-rimmed lens.
