Last week, Broadacres Housing Association along with Meldrum Group, hosted a fantastic green space event at White Horse Close in Malton! 🌿🏡 After consulting with Broadacres customers in the area, we launched a series of initiatives to improve the local green space for both customers and wildlife. Phase one is now complete, this included tree planting, bench installations, and a neighbourhood litter pick. We planted native oak, beech, and maple trees. These were carefully selected for their ability to support a huge array of beneficial insects. Not only do these trees enhance biodiversity, but they also play a vital role in capturing and storing carbon dioxide, helping to create a healthier environment for everyone. Gail Teasdale, our CEO:

Happy International Women’s Day! 💜✨ International Women's Day (IWD) has been around for over a hundred years, as have many of the issues still impacting women's advancement. This year’s global theme, 'Accelerate Action', highlights the importance of taking bold and meaningful steps toward gender equality. Leading up to IWD, we organised events at the refuge requested by the women to boost their well-being. North Yorkshire Police provided a Clare’s Law (Domestic Violence Disclosure Scheme) talk on safety in future relationships. North Yorkshire Council supported women in signing up to quit smoking. Triage Education introduced courses for future training and employment, while one former resident received help finding local work. Others explored confidence-building courses. Today the women at the refuge will do an activity looking at goals for their future as they settle into new homes. Children will create door signs for their new rooms, making positive memories. The children’s service also sourced books promoting caring behaviour.
