In October, 30 of our barristers and staff at Broadway House Chambers took on a step challenge, forming three teams to encourage more movement and support our wellbeing in honour of World Mental Health Day. Team Leah, David and Conor took a grand total of 7.4 million steps in October. We can announce that Team Conor won the challenge with an impressive 2.6 million steps! Now, as we step into November, we’re getting ready for a cake-off, where our criminal barristers will go head-to-head to see who makes the best cake. Our clerks will have the hard job of judging. We have had a very exciting week so far with our various workshops and seminars this week.   The Career Booster Week started of with a session titled “Women in Law” which comprised of a rich panel of practitioners working in different areas of law with Jayne Orme (solicitor in a law firm), Semaab Shaikh(barrister) and Kardine Williams (inhouse solicitor). This provided students with a real insight into possible careers in law as well as tangible evidence of the growing diversity within the legal profession.   This was followed by a session in Writing and Drafting led by Tuiya Tembo with the key message being simplicity is key. Students appreciated the afternoon of group discussions which gave room for collaboration among students.   The focus on Tuesday afternoon was on Clinical Negligence very candidly delivered by highly experienced solicitors in this field Emma Semwayo and Saima Mazhar. This gave students an opportunity to have a real insight into Tort in practice on a specialist area and generated a high level of debate and discussions on some case studies shared by the presenters.   Every semester the Faculty of Management, School of Law and Social Sciences dedicates a week to focus on career-based activities where we hold a series of seminars and workshops aimed at enhancing students soft-skills as well as providing them with an insight into various careers.   The University of Bradford School of Law is thankful for the support provide by a breath of its partners.   Looking forward to more excitement for the remainder of the week.” Liberty Global Minton Morrill LCF Law Fletchers Group Broadway House Chambers
