This September, we’re spotlighting some of the education projects in our portfolio, beginning with the School of Concepts (SoC) in Singapore. This social enterprise aims to empower children with language and learning difficulties, particularly those from less privileged backgrounds.
SoC needed new premises after outgrowing their previous location. As a social enterprise, it was crucial that the move was carried out at the lowest possible cost and with minimal disruption to daily operations. The new space is larger and includes three classrooms, allowing for a greater intake of students, who can also be grouped by age or need. The space is ample enough to accommodate workshops, training sessions and performances.
Broadway Malyan volunteered our expertise in interior design, graphics and signage consultancy to the school. Additionally, a range of other companies generously donated time, materials and furniture for the new building, including Steelcase, ERCO, Formica Group Asia and Nippon Paint Singapore.
“The new space has increased the perceived value of the school and the education it provides, raising our profile and credibility amongst parents and the broader education sector. The soft colours and warm palette make the children feel at home, and they want to come to class. Because the design is very clean and all of the resources are neatly concealed in large cupboards the space has very few distractions… children are much more able to focus, particularly those with ADHD and low spectrum autism.” Mint Lim, Founder of SoC
