The next episode of “AV over IP: From the Ground Up” is about connecting senders and receivers. As CTO Chris Deighton explains, the receiver must have enough detail not only to interpret the sender’s signals, but also to find those signals in the first place. He looks at what kind of detail that might be and why a certain protocol specified by SMPTE 2110 is used. “The inclusion of SMPTE 2110 is exciting. It gives us flexibility, and means we can help people understand the protocol in a space that is a multi-purpose AV facility rather than a broadcast studio. We’ll also be able to demonstrate future protocols such as IPMX. With the increasing blurring of the lines between IT and AV, and the use of broadcast technology in corporate and education spaces, being able to explain the flexibility of what appears to be complex technology is important for the industry.” 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐨𝐤, 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲, 𝐝&𝐛 #BromptonTechnology #LEDProcessing #Broadcast

In episode 5 of “AV over IP: From the Ground Up” our CTO Chris Deighton looks at video timing. With baseband video, genlock is used to synchronise frame rate and phase across multiple devices. But with IP, it’s different. ST 2110 splits this into two parts. Find out more in episode 5 – Sending Video Timing over IP: https://lnkd.in/eGV74ddh #BromptonTechnology #LEDProcessing #AVoIP #ST2110

On their 2024 European tour, English rock band The Smile were the first to use ROE Visual’s V4ST panels for their upstage visuals, driven by Brompton’s Tessera SX40 LED processor. The setup hit all the right notes, meeting the challenge of creating consistently stunning and seamless visuals on a tour spanning 14 countries. Phil Mercer, Commercial Director at Universal Pixels, said it was “a feat that most other LED processing platforms would struggle to achieve”.
