Incredibly insightful and inspiring supervisory board panel discussion in Amsterdam yesterday – Great line up of four exceptional Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations leaders who have all successfully transitioned into supervisory board and non-executive roles.    A special and really helpful highlight was gaining an external perspective from our fifth panelist, a prominent Board Chair, on the challenges and also the growing opportunity for our profession to secure board positions. Above all, yesterday’s panel session only strengthens the case for what’s possible for our profession as it further rises in stature, influence and strategic importance.   A huge thank you to our five outstanding panelists: Hélène Vletter-van Dort, Charlotte Lambkin, Dorothy Burwell, Bartho Boer and Anne Louise Metz. Also, many thanks to Leslie McGibbon and his team at Philips for kindly hosting us and to our friends at FGS Global and Tim van der Zanden and NEVIR: the Netherlands Association for Investor Relations for their support.    For those unable to attend, we will be sharing a short film and synopsis of the discussion soon. Please reply to this post or message us directly if you would like to receive a copy.   The incredible turnout only reaffirmed the growing interest and appetite for this career path across our Dutch network. Exciting times ahead!   For more on this theme and other important corporate affairs and IR leadership reports and trends, take a look at our insights page: https://lnkd.in/eX_RPS_N #supervisoryboard #nonexecutive

Another step closer for our IROs to one day move into a CEO role - Why CFOs are becoming CEOs? The major trend we picked up on a few years ago was how many former IROs had moved into business leadership roles and how many had become CFOs. Give it a couple more years and I predict several of those brilliant former IROs who had taken up CFO roles will one day become a CEO. Again, our industry has come a long way and its future and those within it is now only limited by its own ambition. https://lnkd.in/e_fxbXb6 - Thank you to the Financial Times

Great opinion piece from David Broome in PRWeek UK on the increasing opportunity for corporate affairs leaders to secure a different seat at the board table – that of non-executive director. For more insight on this growing career path, do read our short synopsis of our recent NED panel event and non-executive report: https://lnkd.in/e_JDt4Fw

Managing Partner at Broome Yasar Partnership - Corporate Affairs Executive Search

As I suggest in my PR Week opinion piece, corporate NED roles are finally becoming a more viable addition to the career roadmap of corporate affairs professionals. Yes, traditionally, the classic corporate NED profile was often an experienced leader from a finance, legal or accounting background. Yet in today’s world of reputational uncertainty, could that natural ability to persuade, influence and shape judgements that’s ingrained in the DNA of many corporate affairs executives give them a real competitive edge? We certainly think so and it’s why we continue to believe that today’s corporate affairs professionals have much to offer boards. #corporateaffairs #nonexecutive #ned

AI won’t replace you – but someone who can use AI will!   A standout insight from the recent IR Magazine AI conference in London https://rb.gy/uzaull: Those investor relations professionals who are up-to-speed and keeping themselves informed and aware of the rapidly evolving IR skillset needed in an increasingly AI-driven world, are likely to be the ones that will benefit from further career acceleration in the future. Equally, we mustn’t forget the huge opportunity for IROs to further strengthen their reputation at the c-suite by demonstrating their understanding of the wider ramifications of generative AI in IR and beyond. We will soon be publishing a short paper on the opportunities and challenges posed and its possible impact for IR careers on the back of our Global IR Revolution Study - https://lnkd.in/eE_ZCvYB so watch this space... Thank you to IR Magazine and in particular Erik Carlson of Notified for the clever quote which will go nicely into our Study. https://lnkd.in/euZmdZws
