Last week, we had the pleasure of gathering our senior management team in Harrogate for our annual conference. This year's theme, "Unstoppable Together," resonated deeply with us as we navigate the continued growth and evolution in our business. We focused on the core aspects of workplace dynamics—what connection and collaboration really mean – and discussed practical strategies to enhance teamwork and build meaningful working relationships. The conference was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the strength we gain from collaboration across our Group. We also revisited last year's "Future Ready" theme, exploring the next steps in our transformative AI journey, and the importance of how staying ahead of emerging technologies is essential for our ongoing success. A huge thank you to our session facilitators and to our guest speakers, Sir Jon Murphy, Karen Cummings MSc PG Cert FHEA and Dr Carol Cox, for sharing their invaluable experiences on the importance of cross-departmental collaboration in their extensive policing careers. Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to all our Bspoke Group colleagues whose contributions made this event such a resounding success. Today, we had the privilege of hosting our International Women’s Day 2025 Lunch & Learn session as part of our ongoing commitment to #AccelerateAction. With almost 90 colleagues joining us from across the Bspoke Group, the event was a fantastic opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about gender equality. Led by Justina Stringer, our Group Head of HR, we heard from an inspiring panel of female colleagues who shared their perspectives on the importance of fostering an inclusive culture both at work and in our communities. Some key questions that sparked dialogue included: - How can we be better advocates for gender equality? - How can everyone play a role in closing the gender pay gap? - Is the rise of women about the fall of men? - How can we empower women in our industry? - What does #AccelerateAction mean to you? We’re committed to translating these insights into actionable steps that will help demonstrate the Bspoke Group’s commitment to better equality, inclusivity and eliminating gender bias. We are so proud to hear of the appointment of Jack Harding, Senior Underwriter at Miramar Underwriting Limited, as the new Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) Next Gen Committee Chair. It is with profound sadness that we announce that our friend and colleague, Karen Stacey, Managing Director of Bspoke Lifestyle, has passed away following a short battle with cancer. Karen joined the Bspoke Group as Group Operations Director of RCHL in May 2019 and became the Managing Director of Bspoke Lifestyle, known then as Binnacle Insurance Services, in June 2020 which also incorporated the management of the Compass Insurance brand. Her vision, tenacity, and determination were instrumental in laying the solid foundations for these businesses, which have flourished under her exceptional leadership. For all of you that had the privilege of knowing Karen, you will know that she never approached anything without absolute dedication and a sense of humour. She found the fun and camaraderie in every situation. We feel immensely proud and privileged that she was part of our business and so grateful for the lasting positive impact she has had on the lives of her colleagues and friends across the Group. Tim Smyth, Bspoke Group CEO: “It was an absolute privilege to have known Karen and to have benefitted from both her business acumen and her friendship over the many years we have worked together. She was always great company to be around, and she never took herself too seriously, but this really belied a steely, determined and incredibly passionate individual who achieved truly amazing things in her time with us.
