About us

Buckleys manufacture a range of subsea corrosion monitoring equipment specifically designed to determine the corrosion status of underwater structures such as piers, jetties, pipelines and ships’ hulls. The BathyCorrometer® is a diver-held unit which will measure the corrosion potential at specific contact points. Although the readings are visible to the diver, our Surface Display Unit can display readings onboard a ship or diving platform. For Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), the UCP1A contact probe or UCP1B proximity probe can be easily installed to carry out unmanned corrosion surveys. Simple surveys of marine structures can also be carried out by the use of a Marine Survey Kit.

  • 🔍 Frequently Asked Question: Can I use Tap Water to rinse/wash the Plastic-Bodied K-SAT Reference Electrode? 📌 Answer: No, under no circumstances should tap water be used to rinse or wash the Plastic-Bodied K-SAT Reference Electrode. Doing so can degrade the cell, compromising its performance and accuracy. It is important to note that de-ionised water can be used, as long as the cell is rinsed in 3% salt solution immediately afterwards. ✅ Why is this important? Before calibrating a BathyCorrometer® using Buckley's Plastic-Bodied K-SAT Reference Cells, it's crucial to ensure the reference cells are serviceable and within tolerance. This verification process involves using Saturated Glass Reference Cells and a specific procedure outlined in the instruction manual. 🔧 So what’s the correct procedure? 1️⃣ Prepare a fresh solution of instant seawater with a 3% salinity using de-ionized water combined with Instant Seawater Mixture. 2️⃣ Connect the K-SAT Reference Cell to a digital multi-meter's positive terminal and a Saturated Glass Reference Cell to the negative terminal. 3️⃣ Immerse both cells in the 3% seawater solution and allow the multi-meter's reading to stabilize. 4️⃣ Record the readings obtained from the multi-meter for each Saturated Glass Reference Cell. 5️⃣ Ensure all readings are within ±10mV of 0.000V to confirm the Reference Cell is in good working order. 6️⃣ Repeat the process for all Plastic-Bodied K-SAT Reference Cells and make a record of the readings. 📝 Importance of Accuracy: Accurate calibration ensures reliable measurements, safeguarding the accuracy and reliability of your instrumentation!
