    The Burberry Check was first used as a lining for our raincoats in the 1920s. However, it wasn't until the 1960s, when a buyer at our Paris store, repurposed the lining to wrap luggage and create an umbrella cover, that the first Burberry Check accessory was created.    Over the decades, the Burberry Check has seen many iterations. In the 1970s, the Cashmere Check Scarf was introduced and has remained one of our best-known accessories.     A closer look at the making of the Knight bag.    The Knight bag takes inspiration from our house signifier, the Equestrian Knight Design (EKD). This emblem is playfully reimagined through the steel horse-clip, a key distinguishing feature of the bag.     Crafted with a slouchy silhouette, the bag is formed on a wood-panelled mould and reinforced with a soft external layer, trim and inner lining.     Its ring-shaped hardware supports the bag’s fold over design, allowing it to effortlessly transition from a relaxed slouchy style to a more structured tote shape.     A closer look at the making of the Rocking Horse bag.    Inspired by the classic childhood toy, the Rocking Horse bag features a sleek, curved shape that makes it a timeless addition to the Burberry family.     The bag is meticulously handcrafted from naturally grained leather by artisans in Italy.     One of our earliest house codes, the Equestrian Knight was crowd-sourced from a public competition in around 1901.  Rich in symbolism, the knight represents honour, the shield signifies protection, the lance embodies reform, and the banner with the Latin word ‘Prorsum,’ meaning ‘Forward,’ reflects our brand’s direction.     Our Heritage Trench collection is part of our ‘Trench for Tomorrow’ initiative, which ensures that our coats are made with lower-impact materials and can be worn for as long as possible through the help of our ReBurberry Services.     Burberry’s signature gabardine fabric is now woven from 100% organically grown cotton, a less chemical and water-intensive alternative to conventionally produced cotton.
