About us

Born from innovation, Burberry is a global luxury brand with a rich British heritage.  Founded in 1856, our brand is underpinned by our founder’s passion for the outdoors. Thomas Burberry invented the innovative rain-ready fabric gabardine to protect explorers from the elements. In doing so, he created the foundation for the iconic Burberry trench coat, which remains core to the business even today.  Guided by our history of exploration and our shared belief that ‘creativity opens spaces’, our purpose is to unlock the power of imagination to push boundaries and open new possibilities for our people, our customers and our communities. As a values-driven brand, we are committed to creating the next generation of sustainable luxury and believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to fulfilling our purpose. Fostering an inclusive culture where differences are valued and embraced enables us to be more creative, engaged and make a more meaningful contribution to the world around us. Last night, we were thrilled to host members of The Royal Warrant Holders Association at our London headquarters for a talk by our Brand Curator, Carly Eck, about Burberry’s rich heritage and how it has been intertwined with the stories of iconic women. From enabling female explorers and changemakers like Betty-Kirby Green and Mildred Bruce, to leading visionaries and executives like Rose Marie Bravo and Angela Ahrendts, women form an integral part of our past, present and future.    During the talk, Carly commented, “We barely need to scratch the surface to see just how much the stories of women pervade our brand. Throughout my tenure as curator of the archive, my team and I have actively sought to celebrate our history of women; to bring not only the stories of the record-breakers to the fore, but also the innovators behind the seams.” Discover more about our heritage here: https://lnkd.in/eQFNPX-G Image Credits: Liz Isles

On Saturday, we hosted our first masterclass in partnership with the British Fashion Council and non-profit organisation, National Saturday Club.    The masterclass was hosted by our Textile Design team at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London for eighteen of the Fashion&Business Saturday Club members. It explored the day-to-day responsibilities of a Textile Designer as well as their role in the wider creative process at a global luxury brand. To replicate the textile design process, the young people were set a group-based activity where they had to work collaboratively and create a mood board exploring a set theme, before presenting their interpretation of the concept back to the wider group.    The masterclasses help to ensure that young people are better informed about the choices that exist for further education and rewarding careers and emboldens them to become the next generation of innovators and imaginative thinkers.    Discover more about our commitment to supporting young people here: https://lnkd.in/ehniHceZ

Last week, we hosted a ReBurberry pop-up in London, at the luxury department store, Selfridges.     A celebration of our shared dedication to circularity, the ReSelfridges space hosted ReBurberry - a range of services that help to extend the life of our products.    Over three days, an artisan from Burberry’s Castleford factory was on hand to offer repairs, customisation and restoration to customer-owned trench coats, as well as our Scarf Refresh and Upcycle services.   The pop up also offered twenty pre-1999 trench coats, all of which were carefully sourced and restored by our specialist teams.     Discover more about the ReBurberry programme here: https://lnkd.in/eTy_-Tf3

A closer look into the Burberry archives that inspired our Summer 2025 campaign, ‘It’s Always Burberry Weather: London in Love’.    Our Brand Curator, Carly Eck, comments on the parallels drawn between past present and future - “Burberry-isms from the House’s archive permeate our latest campaign and are brought to life in a modern, joyful way. From the recreation of a classic 1982 image, originally photographed at Brighton Pier, contemporaneously reimagined by Jodie Turner Smith and Nicolas Hoult. The Knight in Shining Armour, playfully references one of oldest House Codes, the Equestrian Knight Design, whilst Richard E Grant continues an over century-old tradition of brand imagery depicting dog-walkers wearing Burberry coats.”    Discover more about ‘It’s Always Burberry Weather: London in Love’ here: https://lnkd.in/e-3Tur5j

Last week, we continued to celebrate the enduring legacy of our iconic trench coat with an immersive pop-up in the Isetan department store in Shinjuku, Tokyo.      A celebration of culture and creativity, the trench pop-up united modern design, storytelling and music through Burberry archive posters, a limited-edition book and a curated playlist.    The pop-up also hosted 100 trench coats from pre-1999, each of which had been carefully sourced and authenticated, repaired, cleaned and reproofed in the Burberry factory in Castleford, Yorkshire. These collectable one-of-a-kind pieces feature a ‘Proudly restored by Burberry’ neck chain and come with custom-designed packaging, including a numbered swing ticket.

There is a sense of adventure in the summertime.     First used to line our raincoats in the 1920s, the Burberry Check is an enduring house code and features on a range of Summer 2025 rainwear and accessories, including our classic walking umbrella, jackets, trousers, bags and mules.    New for Summer 2025, the B Clip messenger bag is inspired by equestrian saddles and secured with a clip fastening that echoes our seasonal B. Potter clogs are crafted in Italy and set on a wooden sole embossed with the Equestrian Knight Design.    The Equestrian Knight wears a fringed scarf, which features a reworked label from our trench coats as an appliquéd patch with our signature house codes.    Discover more about ‘It’s Always Burberry Weather: London in Love’ here: https://brby.co/qLuYUe

Throughout the Burberry Winter 2025 collection, there’s a deliberate tension and interplay between indoors furnishing fabrics – now seen outdoors – and a continuing expansion of the Burberry design-language.    Velvet brocade jackets replicate flocked wallpaper, pheasant prints are intricately cut to create feathered trims and delicate lacework is reimagined with beads. Iconic silhouettes are recast and new proposals of heirloom pieces come in patchwork shearling and jacquard weaves inspired by tapestry.    Discover more about the Winter 2025 collection here: https://lnkd.in/deP8T8X3

Inside the venue of our Winter 2025 runway presentation at Tate Britain, a landmark of British culture.    Huge drapes framed the runway, reinterpreting the rich heritage of landscape paintings by British masters and tapestries. The seating also came draped in frescos, seen in many old country houses, which lend the illusion of dust sheets in a packed-up manor.    The collection’s debut at the gallery also marks a one-year partnership with Tate, supporting vital conservation work at Tate Britain’s world-leading Painting Conservation Studios.    Discover more about the Winter 2025 collection here: https://lnkd.in/deP8T8X3
