Here are some wonderful Eid card designs submitted by talented children from schools across Burnley for the Mayor’s Eid Card Competition. We’re proud to showcase their creativity and spirit! 🌙✨

  • Our Streetscene Team has been working hard to tackle fly-tipping, including removing vehicles that are involved in fly-tipping from the streets. If you fly-tip in Burnley, you run the risk of having your vehicle seized and crushed. The vehicle in this video was witnessed fly-tipping on Woodplumpton Road in Burnley. As a result, Officers from the Streetscene Team & Lancashire Police traced the vehicle and seized it. The vehicle was deemed to be unroadworthy, had no tax or valid MOT and the owner failed to provide the appropriate documents within 15 days, forfeiting their rights to the vehicle.   • GREEN SPACES & AMENITIES Skilled Gardener/Assistant Greenkeeper Grade 4-5 £24,790 to £27,269 Temporary to 31st October 2025 We are recruiting a temporary Assistant Green Keeper to help maintain a parkland golf course in the attractive setting of the Towneley Estate in the rural outskirts of Burnley. The course has an excellent reputation for quality and is managed in partnership with Burnley Leisure Trust. Your duties will cover all green keeping activities including grass cutting, setting up the course, applying fertilisers, pesticides, topdressing and you will also operate and maintain a range of up-to-date machinery. You must have an NVQ level 2 qualification in Green Keeping & Sports Turf Management (or equivalent qualification). Applicants with level 3 will be eligible for progression to grade 5.   • ECONOMY & GROWTH - MARKETS Commercial Caretaker/Cleaning Operative 20 hours per week (this will include Saturday working) Grade 4 £13,677 to £13,894 (plus enhancements for weekend working) We are currently recruiting a Commercial Caretaker/Cleaning Operative to assist in the operation of the Markets Complex and associated casual markets which could be outdoors. Duties will include day-to-day cleaning, maintenance and caretaking of the Burnley Markets complex and any associated casual markets. You will also be responsible for the overall security of Burnley Markets undertakings and will assume responsibility for the building in the absence of the Senior Supervisory function. Saturday working is required. Overtime cover in the event of holidays is likely and Sunday working may be required up to and including Christmas. Whilst this position will work within a rota pattern, where holidays or illness occur within the cleaning operation, you will be expected to work flexibly to provide cover.   • There are changes to voting by post and applying to vote by post. You can now apply online to vote by post for some elections including the county council elections. You will also need to prove your identity as part of the application process and reapply for a postal vote every three years.   • LEGAL & DEMOCRATIC SERVICES Lawyer (Litigation & Regulation) 36.25 hours per week Grade 11 £40,476 to £43,693 We are looking to appoint a Solicitor or Fellow of CILEX to join the Legal Services team in Burnley. As a lawyer within the Litigation and Regulation team you will manage a varied and interesting caseload of both criminal and civil and regulatory matters. This will include giving advice to the Council on licensing, planning, environmental health and housing. You will also represent the Council in the Magistrates’ Court and County Court and give advice to elected members in committee. You will have at least 2 years’ experience of working in a legal environment in a fee-earning capacity and will have advocacy experience in the Magistrates’ court. You will need to demonstrate experience of three of the following areas of law; civil litigation, criminal law, licensing, highways, planning, information law and housing. You will have excellent communication skills. You will have the ability to draft legal proceedings and statutory notices. You can manage a range of complex and competing priorities and deadlines. You are an effective member of the team but can work without supervision and you can manage a diverse workload.   • The Hive in Padiham is officially open!🚴♂️ The Hive has been developed through a collaborative effort between the council, Burnley Leisure & Culture, OutdoorTown, Burnley West Network Canal & River Trust, British Cycling, Active Lancashire and local community groups, with additional support from Friends of Padiham Leisure Centre and The King's Trust This ambitious project has seen the refurbishment and renewal of the disused bowling pavilion and green transforming it into a vibrant, multi-purpose community hub suitable for people of all ages, featuring a junior cycleway and a range of activity spaces.
