We are delighted that our Chief Executive Mary Macleod was part of an inspiring panel at Anthropy UK 2025. The fireside chat, "The King's Responsible Business Network: A Conversation with BITC's CEO and UK Business Leaders," delved into the cutting edge and future trends of #ResponsibleBusiness. Mary was joined by esteemed leaders: Steve Holliday (CityFibre), Roxanne Folke (née Ratcliff) (Burges Salmon LLP), Claudine Blamey (Aviva), and Louise Kingham (bp), who shared insights on evolving trends, the key role of stakeholders, and the critical personal leadership needed to accelerate action. The discussion highlighted challenges and the importance of innovative solutions to create long-lasting change that helps deliver prosperity and inclusive growth. We welcome these high-level leadership discussions as they play a crucial role in shaping the future of responsible business and inspiring collective action towards a more sustainable and equitable Britain.

As we mark International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, our Race Director Sandra Kerr reflects on three decades of our pioneering work to create fairer, more inclusive workplaces. While we've made significant progress, there's still much to be done - especially in today's challenging climate. In her blog, Sandra explores the journey from past achievements to current challenges and future strategies for change. As we take stock of our achievements and look to the future, we must ask - what more can we do to ensure fairness and opportunity for all? https://lnkd.in/emq94DTH #IDERD #RaceAtWork #ResponsibleBusiness

Business in the Community Northern Ireland took steps towards reducing road fatalities by launching a safe driving campaign aimed at businesses and their employees as part of our flagship Seeing Is Believing programme. The visit by a delegation of business leaders took place in partnership with the The Road Safety Trust, the Police Service of Northern Ireland, and U105 in #Lisburn. This campaign follows the alarming number of road deaths in Northern Ireland, where 69 lives were lost last year, and aligns with Seeing is Believing, an immersive programme that emphasises the importance of tangible actions to create positive long-term change for people, the planet, and their communities The road safety campaign, which began as a pilot project in February 2024, has already gained support from 20 corporate partners, including Allstate Northern Ireland, Coca-Cola UK, Heron Bros, PwC UK, and Veolia. It focuses on raising awareness about the ‘Fatal Five’ hazards, encouraging senior leaders to champion responsible driving practices within their organisations. The hazards include: not drinking or taking drugs while driving, reducing speed, avoiding careless behaviour, wearing a seatbelt, and refraining from using a phone while driving. The ultimate goal is to reduce road deaths and create a safer, more confident driving environment for everyone. We had a wonderful event last night, sharing our #PrideOfPlace vision at Speaker's House!🏛️ It was inspiring to witness the collective passion for driving positive change in communities across the UK. At Business in the Community, we're committed to fostering thriving places through collaborative partnerships. From tackling slum housing in #Blackpool to empowering small businesses in #Rochdale, our 'Pride of Place' initiative is working on meaningful projects tailored to each area's unique needs - and so far, we've supported 8.1 million people to thrive. This wouldn't have been possible without our Place Taskforce and our partner Aviva. And a huge thank you to our speakers Baroness Sharon Taylor, Deputy Speaker Nusrat Ghani MP, Alison Griffiths MP, Jessica Morden MP, Paul Lewis from Linklaters, Mary Macleod, and Dan Labbad from The Crown Estate. We are already working in 16 UK locations, bringing businesses, the voluntary sector and local authorities together to immediately deliver on the ground and bring about long-term change. Our aim is to support 50 places by 2032, as part of our national vision for uplifting the UK. Want to get involved? Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eUWJZNVk #BITCPrideOfPlace #CommunityDevelopment
