Fred was delighted to facilitate a business question and answer session featuring Hull and East Yorkshire mayoral candidates this week.
Part of an exclusive session for sponsors of The Business Day, an intimate audience was given an opportunity to grill those hoping to represent the region from early May.
Our very own David Laister hosted at Beal Homes' Bridgehead HQ in Hessle, having kept a close eye on devolution and the political and economic fortunes of the Humber for most of his career.
His experience of the regional economic landscape, retained dose of journalistic integrity, Fred’s ongoing involvement with The Business Day - and possibly a quietly kept qualification as a football referee - made him the ideal official for the set piece occasion.
It was a good-natured discussion with many points agreed upon by the five candidates in the room, who brought insight into their backgrounds, beliefs and personalities, with considered pitches and closing remarks.
Transport, leadership, neighbourly relations, Net Zero, skills and identity were all addressed inbetween, with The Business Day director Stephen Parnaby revealing the successful candidate will address Bridlington Spa on June 6, ahead of Piers Morgan's headline act.
Fred looks forward to working with whoever emerges as Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire.
