I'm so pleased the Bute Energy approach to community investment has been recognised and included as a case study in this important report. We are so proud of our community informed, data led approach to mapping our communities as complex systems. This method allows us to focus our investment to meet the direct needs and aspirations of #communities, creating as many opportunities for people across #Cymru through our projects' and the £3billion investment they represent. #Diolch netzero2035.wales https://lnkd.in/gTFN8kDV #onshorewind #netzero #renewableenergy #communitybenefits James G. We’re so proud of Michael Brandfather who has volunteered almost every day for the past 20 years! A well deserved winner of the Bute Energy Volunteer of the Years award and the Outstanding Achievement Award. Volunteering is a huge part of our culture here at Bute - Michael will inspire our staff to keep doing what they’re doing and support other local volunteers in our communities in Wales. #TidyWalesAwards2024
Yesterday Keep Wales Tidy hosted The Tidy Wales Awards 2024 at the wonderfully plush Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, and it was one of the most inspiring days I've had in years. We were joined by 50 shortlisted nominees for a celebration of volunteering, community action and environmental excellence, and I was blown away by some of the stories we heard. This year’s Outstanding Achievement Award went to Michael Barnfather, an RAF veteran and landscape artist who now lives in Monmouthshire. Michael, who turned 90 this year, has spent almost every day of the past 20 years volunteering in his community as a Keep Wales Tidy champion He’s rightly described locally as an “absolute legend”, and I’m delighted we were able to recognise his tremendous contribution yesterday. It was my privilege to present him with this award alongside Deputy First Minister Huw Irranca-Davies and the wonderful CEO of Wales & West Housing, Anne Hinchey. An enormous thank you to our wonderful comms team for pulling it all together, our sponsors for supporting us, our presenters for keeping us entertained throughout and - most importantly - our nominees for all that you do. Every single one of you make an invaluable contribution to the communities you serve, and Wales would be a far poorer place without you. 🌍 Holistic approaches to environmental issues are essential for achieving long-term sustainability. That's why we've partnered with Bee1 to marry technological efforts in renewable energy generation with the preservation of biodiversity. Both serve as a way to build a greener, more sustainable future for our planet. We can't wait to take our partnership with Bee 1 on the road! 🐝 We'll visit some of the community groups we've been engaging with to introduce young women and girls to the career pathways into renewable energy in Wales. Drawing inspiration from the leadership role of the queen bee, we hope to demonstrate that the female role in this sector is essential to ensure that together, we can deliver ambitious sustainability targets. 🔗 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eCuZnx9t

Estimates put the number of new Welsh energy sector jobs required by 2050 to be 25,000 jobs, 65% of which will be new jobs. An estimated 140,000 existing jobs that will be affected by net zero will require re-skilling for a new economy. Our Director of Community Investment and Communications shares how at Bute, we're tackling this challenge head on! #renewables #onshorewind24 #greenskills #netzerowales https://lnkd.in/drbF3dqK
