Today, in our role as parliamentary advisors BXB Land Solutions Ltd we've been focusing on finding out about Matthew Pennycook MP (Greenwich and Woolwich since 2015) who is the Minister of State for Housing and Planning, Ministry for Housing, Communities & Local Government. Pennycook was raised in South London and has long said housing was a top priority for the labour party, he often highlights unemployment and public transport services as issues he wants to fix. Although #brownfield first he has also emphasized that this does not mean brownfield only to deliver the number of #homes the country needs. He has indicated decisive early action on housing targets is expected, and a bold evolution of targeted changes to the existing planning system to ensure its optimal functioning. He talks of improved standards of housing and using cross-boundary planning reform to overcome the #housingdelivery challenges around towns and cities with tightly drawn administrative boundaries. We’re also finding out about Jim McMahon OBE MP (Oldham West, Chadderton and Royton since 2015) who is Minister of State (English Devolution and Local Government TBC), Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government. McMahon grew up north of Manchester, worked at Manchester University, Groundwork Trust and was a Town Centre Manager before resigning to focus on his Leader of Oldham Council role which he was appointed to at the age of 31. He favours further local devolution empowering councils and has spoken about #housing being a serious issue for the country. He argues that fair funding should be addressed and local government reorganisation "might be necessary". He talks of the importance of high-speed rail, the Northern Powerhouse Rail project and connecting towns and cities.

In BXB Land Solutions Ltd new role as parliamentary advisors this week we're spending time getting to know our new Ministers in the 'Policy Liaison Group for Regeneration & Growth'. Here’s some of what we’ve found out about Rt Hon Rachel Reeves MP (Leeds West & Pudsey since 2010) who is our Chancellor of the Exchequer. Born in Lewisham, London and been a member of labour party from age 17. A former Bank of England economist, in 2011 she was the youngest member of the shadow cabinet. In 2021 appointed Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, before taking on her new role in current government. She has described the planning system as the single greatest obstacle to our economic success, has promised an overhaul of the nationally significant infrastructure regime and updating of all National Policy Statements in the next 6 months. At the forefront of plans for reintroducing local housing targets, recruitment of new planners to tackle the backlog and bringing forward a new generation of New Towns.

SHE’S DONE IT!!! Not only has BXB Land Solutions Ltd sponsored Francesca Goodman been asked to fight for the #England #Boxing Team, she went on to fight her way to the top spot of the podium and recently WON to become the Tri-Nations Schools Champion for her weight category. Brilliant stuff Fran – well done Champ, we’re proud of you. Although the news of Francesca's success doesn’t stop there, she has also been selected to compete for England once again, this time it’s in the prestigious European Championship that is scheduled to take place in Bosnia at the start of August. WOW what an achievement for a 14-year-old. Over the next few weeks Francesca is going to be busy training with the England Boxing Team to make sure she is ready for the challenge.
