We are supporting Male Victims of Domestic Abuse Day 2024. The theme this year is signposting male victims and survivors to the support services where they live. Today we are highlighting and celebrating our Respect Accredited Member CALAN DVS. Calan DVS offers The Compass Programme that supports male victims to share their experiences as part of a safe and supportive group programme that: -Increases self-confidence -Improves self-efficacy -Helps men learn the signs of abuse -Increase mental wellbeing -Provide the opportunity to be in a supportive group with other male victims and survivors Many male victims will find it difficult to access support due to fear of not being believed, their masculinity being questioned and fear of losing children but #MenYouAreNotAlone. A male survivor who accessed the programme said: ''The Compass Programme helped me to realise that after coming out of the darkness you are not alone, and also it makes you stronger!'' Programmes like this are vital to supporting male victims and survivors and we are proud to have Calan DVS as a member! For more on Calan DVS: https://lnkd.in/ezTnBN2f If you need support Calan DVS also has a Live Fear Free Helpline you can call on: 0808 80 10 800 Male victims outside of Wales can get in touch with the Men's Advice Line for non-judgemental support on 0808 8010327. #MenYouAreNotAlone

Last week, the High Sheriff of Powys hosted an event to raise awareness about the effects of domestic abuse and to fundraise for Calan DVS and MFCC. We were honoured to have our Survivor Ambassador, Sarah Taylor, share her personal journey through domestic abuse and post-separation abuse, offering powerful insights to the audience. The event was well-attended, and our CEO, Michelle Whelan, along with Head of Operations, Moyra Parfitt, addressed key challenges facing the domestic abuse sector, such as the rising demand for services and the urgent need for sustainable funding. A heartfelt thank you to the High Sheriff, everyone who attended, and those who donated. Your support truly makes a difference!
