Is THIS the best International Women's Day campaign of all time?! 🔥 You know the phrase "Behind every great man, there's a great woman"? Well, this campaign cleverly responds to that. The campaign itself is called 'Highlight The Remarkable' and it features NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, U.S. First Lady Edith Wilson and Austrian-Swedish physicist Lise Meitner. Each print ad shows a black and white photo with the woman highlighted and some information about her role and what she achieved. Simple, easy to understand and creating that magic 'aha!' penny drop moment. Please, tell me you love it too?!

Last night, we had an incredible panel discussion on gender bias in AI, co-hosted by Speechmatics and Cambridge Women In Tech. Our event sparked engaging conversations about the challenges and opportunities ahead in making AI and speech technology more inclusive 🙌   💡 Key Takeaways: - We kicked off with insights from our recent Speechmatics Hackathon, highlighting the real-world impact of gender bias in AI. Our findings demonstrated that while progress is being made, there is still much to be done to improve representation and accuracy across different genders in AI systems. - The panel, featuring Bella Taylor, Benedetta Cevoli, Lauren King, and Teri Drummond, moderated by Katherine Codlin, brought diverse perspectives to the discussion. From personal experiences with AI bias to the technical root causes, we explored how biased data and algorithmic decisions contribute to gender bias in speech and AI systems. - Our panelists shared how Speechmatics is addressing these challenges by focusing on inclusive data practices and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion. We also discussed what other companies can learn from our approach and how the broader tech community can take action. - The event concluded with powerful reflections on how individuals and companies can work together to reduce gender bias in AI, with the panelists offering advice to women entering the tech industry: stay curious, drive change, and be a voice for equality in AI development. 👥 Thank you for everyone who attended and contributed to such an impactful discussion!

Every event I host at Cambridge Women In Tech is truly special, and last night's Gender Bias in Speech Technology event was no exception! The room was buzzing with energy as our incredible panelists and engaged audience came together to explore the hard-hitting questions surrounding gender bias in AI. We explored the influence of data and algorithms on bias and discussed how, as individuals and as an industry, we can drive real change. The personal stories shared by our panelists from SpeechmaticsBenedetta Cevoli, Teri Drummond, Lauren King, and Bella Taylor—were especially moving, and the insights from Speechmatics' recent hackathon provided incredible insight into the discussion. A huge thank you to the Raspberry Pi Foundation for hosting us in their Lovelace Room—what a fitting way to mark Ada Lovelace Day! And to Speechmatics for sponsoring the evening with their fantastic networking refreshments, you truly made the night complete. These events would not be possible without those who wholeheartedly support and champion our community, and I’m endlessly grateful. Each event continues to fill me with admiration for the dedication, passion, and brilliance that our speakers bring to the table. Last night was a perfect reminder of why I love doing this.

On this Ada Lovelace Day, I’m thrilled to be hosting a special event with Speechmatics tonight, where we’ll explore the crucial topic of gender bias in speech technology. Ada Lovelace's legacy as the world’s first computer programmer inspires us to continue breaking barriers and driving innovation, especially in spaces where diversity still has room to grow. Our panel of experts, including Benedetta Cevoli, Lauren King, Bella Taylor and Teri Drummond, will be diving into the impacts of bias and the importance of inclusivity in tech. I can't wait to moderate this discussion and share insights from the Speechmatics Hackathon. What better way to honor Ada’s pioneering spirit than by pushing for a more inclusive future in tech? How are you celebrating Ada Lovelace Day? #AdaLovelaceDay #WomenInTech #GenderBiasInTech #SpeechRecognition #Innovation #DiversityInSTEM
