We were honoured to join INTERPOL this month for the annual DevOps, where 45 people from 12 countries representing 34 organisations came together for a single goal: supporting law enforcement agencies in their efforts to identify, disrupt, and manage the harm caused by child sexual abuse. Interpol DevOps brings together experts from around the world to develop innovative solutions to combat online child sexual exploitation. Global collaboration like this fuels our work to build technology that helps find children faster.

AI is now capable of creating images that are visually indistinguishable from real photographs. In fact, a recent study from the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) found that out of 12,000 AI-generated images, 90% of them were so realistic that they fell under the same legal classification as non-AI child sexual abuse material. This is alarming for both child victims and law enforcement. However, as image generation technology becomes more advanced, so do image forensics tools. We recently spoke to Dr. Shaunagh D. about the challenges of combatting AI-generated child sexual abuse material, and what we’re doing to help investigations stay ahead.
