Enterprise open source, secured and delivered by the publisher of Ubuntu.
About us
We deliver open source to the world faster, more securely and more cost effectively than any other company. We're also the publishers of Ubuntu, the world’s most popular enterprise Linux from cloud to edge, together with a passionate global community of 200,000+ contributors. Ubuntu means 'humanity to others'. We chose it because it embodies the generosity at the heart of open source, the new normal for platforms and innovation. Together with a community of 200,000, we publish an operating system that runs from the tiny connected devices up to the world's biggest mainframes, the platform that everybody uses on the public cloud, and the workstation experience of the world's most productive developers. Secure and reliable, elegant and intuitive, and open for innovation - this is the future of open source, which is why we're proud to be the developers of the fastest growing Linux in the world despite already being the most widely deployed. If you're interested in a career at Canonical, we are a remote-first company so please apply to any suitable role as skills are valued more than location, despite some having a preferred geographic preference. www.canonical.com

🎉 Happy 33rd Birthday, Linux! 🐧🎂 On this day in 1991, a young Finnish student named Linus Torvalds announced his "hobby" operating system to the world. Little did he, or we, know that his creation would revolutionize computing and shape countless industries over the next three decades. At Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, we're incredibly grateful for Linux and its profound impact: • Democratizing innovation by providing an advanced open-source OS to millions worldwide to innovate and invent • Powering the Clouds running most of the servers underpinning the modern services we use daily • Driving Innovation by spurring technological advancements across industries all industries. From smartphones to supercomputers, space stations to smart homes, Linux is everywhere - even if you don't always see it. For us here at Ubuntu, Linux is at the heart of everything we do. We will continue to embody its principles of openness, collaboration, and community. As we celebrate 33 years of Linux, we also look ahead to an exciting future. With Linux as the foundation, the possibilities are endless - from AI and machine learning breakthroughs to new frontiers in cloud computing, IoT, and beyond. Here's to Linux, to visionaries like Linus who brought it to life, and to the community that sustains it. Thank you for 33 incredible years (so far)! #HappyBirthdayLinux #Ubuntu #OpenSource #Innovation
