  • Building the future at Grandidges Quay 🚧 We recently joined contractors and stakeholders at the groundbreaking ceremony at Grandridges Quay in Birkenhead. Working with Glencar, Peel Ports Group, and Finsa UK, we celebrated the start of construction on a 158,904 sq ft warehouse and timber-framed office to support Finsa UK’s operations and growth plans. Cara Construction is installing SW drainage, kerbs, and ACO systems in preparation for yard slabs. Piling works are active, and foundation excavation will begin soon, so the project continues to progress. The development features innovative sustainability elements, such as solar power generation, battery storage for optimised energy use, rainwater harvesting systems and sustainable timber construction to reduce the overall carbon footprint. This forward-thinking approach ensures long-term benefits for the business and the local community. We’re pleased to be part of such an innovative, sustainable project and work alongside industry-leading partners to shape a greener future. A special thanks to our construction team for the warm welcome on-site. We look forward to working together to bring this project to life. #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

  • Cara Brickwork attended the Build St Helens - Green Technologies and Skills Show organised by St Helens College, where Managing Director Neil Allen started as a bricklaying apprentice. It was a fantastic event, bringing local and regional employers, suppliers, and manufacturers together to shape a more sustainable future for construction. Neil even managed to win a signed St.Helens R.F.C. shirt, which was a great reminder of how far he's come since he began as an apprentice more years ago than he likes to think about ☺️ #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire #Apprentices #Apprentice

We had the fantastic opportunity to participate in a taster session for local schools, designed to give students hands-on experience and a real insight into the range of careers available in construction 🚧 Representatives from Cara Brickwork attended alongside Contracts Manager John Mumberson and Site Manager Mathew Lewis, who were eager to share their knowledge and inspire the next generation of construction professionals. Throughout the day, students rotated between various interactive sessions, including our brickwork workshop, an engaging session with We Are Footprint and an insightful activity with Morgan Sindall Construction. They also had the chance to try their hand at painting and decorating with John Martin and learn about the critical work of scaffolders with Connolly Scaffolding Ltd. Matt built a brilliant rapport with the young people, making the brickwork session fun and informative. It was inspiring to see so much enthusiasm, and we’re sure we have some future bricklayers in the making 🧱 Taking part in events like this is incredibly rewarding, as they provide students with hands-on learning and open their eyes to potential career paths they may not have considered. We’re so pleased to be involved in this enrichment programme and can’t wait to participate in the next two events. #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

We're now also training his son with a path toward employment. Social investment remains central to our mission. • Work is nearly complete on The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford for our client Russell WBHO. Andy Thomas and the site team have worked incredibly hard and have done a fantastic job installing the copings, cupolas, and finials to complete the new build bed block. The 1500m2 extension will accommodate 26 guest bedrooms and a two-storey expansion of the conference venue at the 156-acre five-star resort. It’s been a pleasure to work with Greystone Architectural Cast Stone, which has provided the wet and dry cast stone cills, heads, quoins, and wetlite copings, cupolas, and finials. #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

There’s been some exciting progress on the Embassy Village MCR project in Manchester 🚧 Embassy is a Greater Manchester-based charity that helps people break the cycle of homelessness by providing a home, skills training and wraparound support. Embassy Village will be a new community of 40 homes in Manchester with a village hall and green space for sports, socialising and growing plants. The village, which will open in late 2025, will transform the site below the 22 railway arches between the Bridgewater Canal and River Irwell on land provided by regeneration specialists Peel Waters. Sid Williams of Embassy said, “The village will help us re-imagine the way homelessness is tackled in the city, providing a long-term and sustainable solution. We’re creating a supportive community where we help our residents into work and get used to managing a home. This means we’ll be able to help four times as many people as we currently do.” We’re so pleased to be part of such a valuable and important project. #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

  • It’s been a fantastic week of celebrations ahead of International Women’s Day 👏 Throughout the week, we’ve attended inspiring events, engaged in thought-provoking discussions, and connected with remarkable women shaping the future of construction. Our Social Value Coordinator attended an insightful discussion on Monday at the Village Hotel in Ashton. A panel of speakers shared their journeys, the challenges women face, and the support they’ve received. Thank you to #GMBusinessGrowthHub for hosting this event. Some of our team attended a Women in Construction event, hosted by Future Skills at the iconic Salford Lads Club. It was an excellent opportunity for women in the industry to connect, share experiences, and network in a supportive environment. We also spoke to Amarni Carter, an apprentice at our Trafford Gardens site, about her experience as a woman in the industry. She said, “Construction is still one of the most male-dominated industries, with women making up just 15% of the UK workforce, but that’s changing.” “As an apprentice at Cara Brickwork, I see women leading projects, managing sites, and making key decisions—things that would have been unheard of not too long ago. There’s still a long way to go, but real progress happens when businesses don’t just talk about diversity, they create opportunities for it. I’m proud to be part of the change and hope to see more women follow in our footsteps.” At Cara Group, we are eager to support and uplift women across the industry. We want to thank all our female staff for their hard work, and invaluable contributions. We continue to work on supporting and empowering women in construction, and we’re proud to champion diversity, inclusion, and progress. #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

During National Apprenticeship Week, Anthony Impey MBE visited us as part of his journey visiting 100 small and midsize business leaders. This was organised through the Apprentice Ambassador Network, and Anthony smashed his goal and met 110 business leaders in total, covering over 1,000 miles and six cities. During his visit to our site, Anthony met with Neil Allen, Managing Director of Cara Brickwork, Jayne Greaves, Apprentice Liaison Manager at Cara Group, and Rebecca Sutherland, our Social Value Coordinator, along with Cara’s site team and our apprentices, Oscar Dennis and Lennon STODDARD. Together, they discussed business challenges and explored Cara’s ongoing work with apprenticeships through our FutureSkills programme, supported by Keyfix. Throughout his travels, Anthony learned how businesses like Cara Group navigate today’s challenges by investing in skills, apprenticeships, and growth. He also gathered valuable insights on practical improvements that could encourage even more businesses to invest in these areas. We were so pleased to welcome Anthony to Cara and talk with him about something we’re so passionate about - investing in the construction stars of the future. #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire

Building connections at 'Build St Helens' during National Careers Week 🚧 Some of the Cara Group team attended the Build St Helens - Green Technologies and Skills Show at Totally Wicked Stadium, where local and regional employers, suppliers, and manufacturers gathered to shape a more sustainable future for construction. The event offered valuable insights into sustainable building innovations and created opportunities to strengthen industry relationships. For our Managing Director Neil Allen, the experience was particularly meaningful as St Helens College was where he started his career as a bricklaying apprentice. Neil had the opportunity to present to students and employers, sharing his professional journey and how the college influenced his path. With over 30 exhibitors showcasing upcoming building projects in St Helens, the event highlighted the promising direction of the industry. Thank you to the organisers for creating such an informative and engaging event, and we look forward to future Build St Helens events. #CaraGroup #Construction #Brickwork #Manchester #Liverpool #NorthWest #Yorkshire
