As Women in Construction Week (in the UK) 👷🏻♀️👷🏽♀️👷🏿♀️ comes to an end this weekend, tomorrow (8th March) marks International Women's Day (IWD); a global celebration of women's achievements 🏆 and a campaign for gender equity ⚖️. Here at CARLISLE CM Europe, we recognise the importance of gender diversity in construction industry 🏗️. While progress has been made, this year's #IWD call to #AccelerateAction and reminds us that there's still much to do to make it easier for women to thrive in our sector. We must encourage more women to join our sector 📝 and inspire the next generation to consider construction as a fulfilling career path 🛣️. So, this IWD, let's all do what we can to #AccelerateAction, whether that's creating a female-friendly workplace as an employer, championing the achievements of women in construction, and inspiring young women to explore careers in our field 💪🏻. The importance of hail resistance in roof waterproofing ☔ In times of climate change, when storms, heavy rain and hail are becoming more intense and frequent, effective roof waterproofing is more critical than ever. ⚡ Flat roofs with surface protection such as gravel, greenery or a wear layer are well protected against hail. However, safety depends solely on the waterproofing on roof surfaces exposed to the elements. The service life and resistance to extreme weather events are becoming increasingly important. The size of the hailstones characterises the intensity of the hailstorm, the wind speed and the temperature drop. The impact and the cold temperature can damage the sealing and flexibility of the system and increase the risk of perforations. The right material can prevent such damage. RESITRIX® EPDM membranes are known for their high hail impact resistance and lasting elasticity. With no added plasticisers, they maintain their properties for decades and consistently protect buildings from extreme weather conditions. One successful example is the central railway station in Amsterdam: the hail impact resistance was also determined here under the same conditions on RESITRIX® test specimens that had been naturally aged for 37 years.
