Last night, our Managing Director, Dorian Payne, and Head of Construction, Kevin Roberts, attended the Openreach End of Year Celebration at the BT Tower in London. It was a great event connecting industry leaders, reflecting on achievements, and looking ahead at the future of Full Fibre connectivity. As an Openreach customer, we’re proud to support the rollout of modern, high-quality broadband for homes and businesses across the UK. We are pleased to announce that Castell Group has commenced contracts with Newport City Homes for the development of a 20-home EPC A-rated social housing apartment scheme at Marryat Walk, Newport. This will be our second project with Newport City Homes, and delivers on our commitment of delivering high-quality, energy-efficient social and affordable homes, addressing the urgent demand for housing in Wales. The initial phase of the development is already underway, and our Castell groundworks team will begin site preparations to ensure a smooth and efficient start to construction. Exciting Progress at Eagle House! 🏗️🏡 Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Councillor Saifur Rahman to our Eagle House development, built in collaboration with Tai Tarian. The councillor showed great interest in the project, and we’re all looking forward to seeing the development completed and ready for residents to move in later this year. A huge thank you to Tai Tarian for their ongoing partnership in delivering quality homes for the community!

At Castell Group, we’re always looking for ways to connect with the communities where we work. In 2023, we handed over a new scheme to our client, Caredig, and this week we had the privilege of revisiting it in a very special way. The children of Trallwn Primary School created beautiful artwork for this project, which has now been installed in the communal gardens for the residents to enjoy, thanks to Caredig. On Monday, we had the pleasure of meeting the young artists on site to see their work proudly displayed. It’s great to see how projects like this bring people together and leave a lasting impact beyond the build itself. A big thank you to Trallwn Primary for their creativity and enthusiasm – the artwork has truly brightened up the space!

Behind the Build.🏘️ We’re excited to share the first episode of our new YouTube series, "Behind the Build", where we pull back the curtain on what it takes to deliver high-quality social housing. In this episode, we explore two of our live developments—a 36-unit site and a 35-unit site. From climbing a 45m crane to managing a £200M+ land pipeline, this video gives a behind-the-scenes look at the challenges and realities of running Castell Group. Timber Frame vs Metsec Systems🏘️ At Castell Group, we primarily use timber frame construction due to its sustainability and cost-effectiveness. However, for our Neath Workingmen’s Club development with Pobl Group, we’ve chosen a Metsec system to meet the project’s specific requirements. Both timber and Metsec systems have their unique benefits, and choosing the right one depends on the project’s needs. Which do you prefer for construction—timber or steel? Let us know your thoughts!

It's great to see phase two of our Samlet Road development progressing well. The timber frame installation is now underway, using pre-insulated closed frame panels sourced from LoCaL Homes. These panels provide an efficient and sustainable solution, moving us closer to completion. This phase includes a block of six apartments, with two apartments on each floor. We're on track to hand over this part of the development in July, providing much-needed housing for the community.🏘️ We're proud to be delivering this project in partnership with our client, Caredig. A big thank you to Howdens for their £200 donation to our 2024 Charity of the Year, Matthew's House. Your support is greatly appreciated and will go a long way in helping the important work Matthew’s House does. We’ll be visiting Matthew's House at the end of the month to present them with a cheque for the total funds raised in 2024, including contributions from events like our golf day. We’re also looking forward to another successful year of fundraising and hope to receive the same incredible support for our new Charity of the Year, Lighthouse Club.

We're thrilled to share that we've exchanged contracts on a new site in Bridgend, where we plan to deliver 18 homes for social rent. This project marks another step in our commitment to creating sustainable, high-quality housing that meets the needs of communities across South Wales. At Castell Group, we remain focused on addressing the growing demand for affordable homes, while ensuring sustainability, thoughtful design, and a lasting impact on the communities we serve. We’re excited to embark on this project—stay tuned for updates as we progress through the planning process and bring this development to life!

Last week, we brought together all our construction staff and welcomed our newest team members for a comprehensive training day. The session focused on reinforcing our company values, aligning on key processes, and sharing our plans for the year ahead.
