Investing in school meals offers a clear route to breaking down barriers to opportunity for children in England, offering huge benefits for their health and learning, as well as providing stability to the catering sector.    A new report from School Food Matters answers the crucial question: how much should a school meal cost? The report brought together representatives from across the school food sector to determine how a small investment per school meal can make a big impact on nutrition, taste and sustainability.      Join us and voices from across the sector on Thursday 24 October to discuss the report and what actions the government can take to achieve its pledge of “creating the healthiest generation ever”. It was a fantastic meeting with the kitchen managers at CATERed LTD and having the opportunity to introduce them to our high-quality local produce. We take great pride in knowing that the fresh, locally sourced ingredients we provide will be used to prepare nutritious meals for the school children they serve. Building strong relationships with partners like Catered helps us ensure that local communities benefit from healthy, sustainable food options.

Yesterday we had our catering managers meeting with Tamar Fresh and On Course South West at Plymouth Argyle Football Club! It was such a successful meeting talking about the history of Tamar Fresh and everything their amazing company does. We also had Mark Trewin talking to us about On course south west and the fantastic courses and apprenticeships they offer. We had Plymouth City Council talking about support and counselling. Then we had Brad Pearce, Anne-Marie Sowden and Sophie Piccioni-Vero talking about CATERed and the new upcoming A/W menu. It was such an amazing turn out and it was great to see everyone. It was our first face to face management meeting since 2020 Thankyou again to everyone involved

Next up, we’re thrilled to introduce our fantastic new CATERed LTD Content Creator Apprentice, Sophie Piccioni-Vero. She’s already making a big impact on our communications and social media, showcasing the quality of our work through creative posts and images. Sophie is embracing this opportunity, bringing fresh ideas and energy to our team. Sophie is pursuing her Level 3 Apprenticeship with On Course South West where she benefits from individualised support and learning in small, dedicated groups. At the annual CATERed LTD Kitchen Managers’ Gathering, we welcomed 65 kitchen leaders from schools across Plymouth and Cornwall, along with our core team. We had the pleasure of hearing from Chris Trenerry of Tamar Fresh our local produce supplier. It’s inspiring to learn about their impressive #Sustainability initiatives, including low #FoodMiles, solar energy covering 70% of their needs, and many more efforts to protect our planet. I may be biased, but I truly believe that CaterEd, alongside our valued suppliers, is doing an outstanding job of feeding our children freshly prepared, nutritious meals every day. #MakingADifference #SchoolDinners
