Here's a closer look at the fascinating work LaVision GmbH have been carrying out in Catesby Tunnel! The PIV 'Ring of Fire' testing method involves a car - in this case the world's very first Jaguar E-Type - driving through a gate of helium bubbles. Using a powerful laser and high speed cameras the changes in the position of the bubbles as the car passes through can be analysed to draw conclusions on the vehicle's wake. A huge thank you to Philip Porter of Porter Press and the Jaguar E-Type Club for supplying such an incredible vehicle for this study. It’s not every day that we manage to bring together such iconic features within a measurement campaign, but this has to be amongst the most memorable and spine tingling test LaVision GmbH has ever carried out!! • The 𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁 surviving #Etype #Jaguar – 9600HP • The 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 and most repeatable indoor test facility in the world – the Catesby Tunnel • The 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 technology in Aerodynamic Testing – #LaVision #FlowMaster Like a scene from Back to the Future, Philip Porter (Porter Press International, Jaguar E-type Club) thundered along the Catesby Tunnel in his fantastic #JaguarEtype reaching the test speed as he pierced the #RingOfFire! Triggering the acquisition sequence, three Photron high speed cameras recorded images of the Helium Filled Soap Bubbles (#HFSB) cloud illuminated by the Litron LDY high speed laser (Litron Lasers Ltd.) . A truly unique moment bringing together state-of-the-art #PIV technology with an iconic motor vehicle 🏎️ famed for its aerodynamic design in this unique Catesby Projects test facility!
