🔍“Would it be possible to have a 3D-printed sample from you?” A question we get often get asked during development stages of a seal project. The answer? Absolutely! 3D printing has become an invaluable tool in seal development, allowing our customers to prototype seal and housing concepts before investing in production tooling. Here is a seal being 3D printed - a process that gives our customers: ✔️ Rapid prototyping: Test fit and basic function quickly, without traditional lead times ✔️ Material flexibility: From PLA to TPU, we choose materials that best simulate elastomer properties ✔️ Informed design decisions: Used alongside FEA simulations, 3D printing of seals and housings helps validate concepts before full-scale production While 3D-printed materials cannot quite match the long term properties of moulded elastomers, we offer a range of options to suit different applications. In rotating applications, the correct seal choice can mean the difference between long-term reliability and premature component failure.
