Yesterdays Low Carbon Future FOW Installation Vessel Design meeting was hosted by First Marine Solutions at their facility in Montrose Port. Our tour of their facility and a real-life vessel was an exciting addition to our regular meeting. It was a great way to put into perspective the scale of the challenge in A+M for floating wind, the already huge anchors here are just a fraction of the size that will be required for floating wind. Hopefully soon we’ll be seeing a lot more of vessels like these servicing floating wind in the Celtic Sea! Innovate UK Celtic Sea Power

Last week I spoke at the Celtic Sea FLOW Summit about the challenges and ambitions of the regional workforce. The key takeaways from my presentation were: - Greater collaboration between industry and education providers is essential. Alongside monetary investment, it requires an investment of time and expertise to support regional learning. - Infrastructure in the region could present a barrier to unlocking a local workforce. We need industry-led solutions to housing and transport issues, like the housing around Hinckley Point or free bus passes for apprenticeships. - We need to communicate the currency of floating wind across the supply chain and general public! - Celtic Sea Power are rolling out our FLOWmark programme to increase regional sector learning and ensure there is a pipeline of individuals ready and eager to work in the sector. The event was well-attended by people across the industry passionate and enthused to deliver floating wind at scale in the Celtic Sea. I walked away from the event hearing the region’s voice clearly - “We want this opportunity, and we are ready to take it on”. #FLOW #CelticSea
