The Centre for Wireless Innovation at Queen's University Belfast is a global research leader in PHYSICAL LAYER Wireless Communications (Europe #11, UK #7 in the ShanghaiRanking of World Universities 2022), focused on Secure Physical Layer, 6G Comms & Sensing, Antenna design (Satellites, Medical and Wearable devices), Wireless Power Transfer, Intelligent Metasurfaces. CWI is the UK’s largest research, development and exploitation base in physical layer wireless. Our 55 researchers invent underpinning technologies for RF through THz systems and Signal Processing & Communications Theory. Their work focuses on the key subjects of Future Wireless Networks (mmWave, 6G), EM Sensing, Green Wireless (Wireless Power Transfer), Connected & Autonomous Systems, Physical Layer Security as well as Space Applications (antenna design for EO satellites, Frequency Selective Surfaces) .
