“When I lay in bed at night, all I would think about is the future, and dream about having a good career and my own home.” Our recent research found that many young people feel like their ambitions are being ignored, and that the lack of stable housing is prohibiting their access to employment. The new government has the opportunity to shift the dial and reprioritise young people again through improving employment support and building more genuinely affordable housing. Thank you to Together - loans, mortgages & finance for supporting us with this research.

A huge thank you to the Royal Bank of Canada for nominating Centrepoint as a beneficiary at their recent ‘RBC Charity Day for the Kids’ once again. Their generous donation of $130,000 will help us to continue supporting vulnerable young people facing homelessness. Our visit to the RBC office was an amazing opportunity to speak to staff about the significant impact this donation will have, engage staff in opportunities to support us, and meet with fellow charity beneficiaries about how we can collaborate. RBC’s unwavering commitment to making a difference for young people is deeply appreciated, and vital to our ambition to end youth homelessness by 2037. 🧡

The Homelessness: Reframed exhibition is now live! Through this exhibition, together with our talented artist friends Opake and Robi Walters, Homewards is shining a light on the complexities of homelessness and the people experiencing it. We can’t wait to see how it helps to change perceptions and inspire optimism that we can work together to end this crisis.

Every young person deserves to have a safe place to call home, where they can rebuild their life and move on to a bright, independent future – just like Andrew did. That’s why we’re so proud to be partnering with Nationwide Building Society to tackle youth homelessness! Through Nationwide Fairer Futures, 2,800 homeless young people will be supported to take steps towards independence and a home of their own. 🧡 More than a roof We’ll be working together to refurbish homes and create safe spaces for young people so they can be themselves and rebuild their lives. 🧡 Stepping stone homes Nationwide will also be funding our groundbreaking independent living programme to build truly affordable homes for young people who have faced homelessness, where residents pay rent that’s capped at a third of their income. 🧡 Making renting work This means funding deposits for homeless young people who are ready to leave supported accommodation and move into the private rental sector. It helps them to overcome the barriers to living independently and secure a space to call home.

294 young people were seen sleeping rough on London’s streets – a 36% increase on the year before. These worrying figures should sound the alarm for local and central government, who need to step up and tackle this deepening crisis.

We’re pleased to see young people at the centre of government policy in today’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announcements. Many of the young people we work with are desperate to leave homelessness behind and access work or education – but too often there is nothing there to help them. We need to give young people the tools they need to get into work, training or education. Getting this right could transform the futures of the next generation of workers, and help boost the economy too.

A huge thank you to all the walkers, footballers and rounders players from our partner Coventry Building Society, who have raised an amazing £10,000 over the past few months to support homeless young people. This is on top of their ambitious target of raising and donating a million pounds, every year for three years, to support our vital work to end youth homelessness. 🧡 💙
