The UK faces a range of sustainability challenges, from climate change and biodiversity loss to waste management and energy transition.
Did you know that:
- So far this year over 980million tonnes of food has been wasted!
- 21million hectares of forest have been cut down or burned since the beginning of the year!
- Global population is forecast to be close to 10 billion by 2050, a number which current food systems will struggle to feed.
Addressing sustainability issues requires comprehensive strategies that involve government regulation, business innovation, and public participation. Collaboration between sectors is essential to create a sustainable future where environmental, economic, and social well-being can thrive.
Since we started with our first cart in Covent Garden, back in 2015, Change Please has grown and evolved, but prioritising people and the planet has always been at the heart of everything we’ve done.
How we're becoming a more sustainable company-
- 100% RFA certification for our Adventurous coffee
-UK Roastery runs on 100% Renewable Energy with no waste sent to landfill
-All core coffee packaging is made with PP5 materials and are fully recyclable
-All Change Please brand cups are aqueous lined. They are Compostable, Biodegradable and Recyclable. This means they can go in recycling OR Food Waste streams.
This year we also shared the news that Change Please is officially a certified BCorp, meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
By joining this global community of businesses committed to positively impacting people, communities and the planet, we can solidify our practices and guide our future decisions, ensuring we continually improve our impact and always make the right choices. Our responsibility is to have a positive impact not just on the environment, but also on all of our stakeholders- our trainees, partners, suppliers, customers, and of course our wonderful Change Please team.
Along with our own efforts, we are proud to partner with other sustainable companies including Karma Drinks, Tony's Chocolonely and THIRSTY PLANET LIMITED.
We also collaborate with Toast Brewing to run our tapcafé, Good company, in Regents Place, London. Fellow B-Corp, Toast brewing are a social enterprise beer company who set out to make sustainable beer that tastes amazing and does amazing things by brewing with surplus bread, by using surplus bread to replace barley, they use less land, water and energy, and avoid carbon emissions. They also donate 100% of profits to environmental charities and have saved 3,313,241 slice of bread since 2016.
