Come with us to the Change Please Graduation at Everyman Cinema 👨🎓 The ceremony was a celebration of the huge accomplishment all our graduates have achieved over the past few months. Each graduate has worked so hard to get where they are, by dedicating themselves to learning the skills needed to become baristas, and engaging with the additional support on offer (therapy, employability workshops, financial advice etc), they have helped lift themselves out of homelessness and into the world of work. We couldn’t be prouder. During the ceremony we heard from Anna Lundstrom, CEO of Nespresso UK, who shared her passion for the Nespresso for Change Please partnerships. Anna share that “When we first met the team at Change Please we knew this was going to be something very special. Their approach of using education and employment as the foundations of their model combined with their passion for coffee made this partnership an easy and natural decision for Nespresso. Being here today and hearing the stories of resilience and success really brings the message ‘it all starts with a cup of coffee’ to life.” We would like to give special thanks to Everyman for hosting and sponsoring the event, their continued support through serving our coffee, hosting workshops and employing our graduates is an example of who in partnership we can use business for good and fight homelessness together. Thank you to Mike Newman for sharing an inspiring speech at the graduation. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us and our mission, without you we wouldn’t be here today seeing our amazing graduates start their next chapter! #changeplease #changepleasefoundation Cemal Ezel OBE Robert Gillon Angela Hay Ken Love Damaris Charnley Phoebe Carlyon Char James Vaida Gruzauskaite Susan Taylor Keith Higham

The UK faces a range of sustainability challenges, from climate change and biodiversity loss to waste management and energy transition. Did you know that: - So far this year over 980million tonnes of food has been wasted! - 21million hectares of forest have been cut down or burned since the beginning of the year! - Global population is forecast to be close to 10 billion by 2050, a number which current food systems will struggle to feed. Addressing sustainability issues requires comprehensive strategies that involve government regulation, business innovation, and public participation. Collaboration between sectors is essential to create a sustainable future where environmental, economic, and social well-being can thrive. Since we started with our first cart in Covent Garden, back in 2015, Change Please has grown and evolved, but prioritising people and the planet has always been at the heart of everything we’ve done. How we're becoming a more sustainable company- - 100% RFA certification for our Adventurous coffee -UK Roastery runs on 100% Renewable Energy with no waste sent to landfill -All core coffee packaging is made with PP5 materials and are fully recyclable -All Change Please brand cups are aqueous lined. They are Compostable, Biodegradable and Recyclable. This means they can go in recycling OR Food Waste streams. This year we also shared the news that Change Please is officially a certified BCorp, meeting high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. By joining this global community of businesses committed to positively impacting people, communities and the planet, we can solidify our practices and guide our future decisions, ensuring we continually improve our impact and always make the right choices. Our responsibility is to have a positive impact not just on the environment, but also on all of our stakeholders- our trainees, partners, suppliers, customers, and of course our wonderful Change Please team. Along with our own efforts, we are proud to partner with other sustainable companies including Karma Drinks, Tony's Chocolonely and THIRSTY PLANET LIMITED. We also collaborate with Toast Brewing to run our tapcafé, Good company, in Regents Place, London. Fellow B-Corp, Toast brewing are a social enterprise beer company who set out to make sustainable beer that tastes amazing and does amazing things by brewing with surplus bread, by using surplus bread to replace barley, they use less land, water and energy, and avoid carbon emissions. They also donate 100% of profits to environmental charities and have saved 3,313,241 slice of bread since 2016. It is estimated that around 45% of homeless people in the UK have a mental health condition! Mental health issues can hinder individuals from finding or keeping a job. Stigma, discrimination, and the challenges of managing mental health symptoms without proper treatment often prevent people from entering the workforce. Here you can find an interview with our incredible Head of Support, Damaris Charnley, as she discusses her experience working with those suffering from mental health issues and homelessness. Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/e54prdwf Tell us about your role at Change Please "During my role at Change Please, I have created support structures, offering 1:1 therapy to all trainees, as well as ensuring support and impact is at the centre of Change Please and that we are continually offering the best for our trainees." What is the relationship between mental health and homelessness, do you see a correlation? "We understand that the people we work with have often experienced multiple traumatic experiences. This can impact on their Mental Health and ability to trust services and sense of self efficacy." What partners do you work with? "We work with mental health professionals and other organizations such as the NHS to ensure trainees have access to the mental health support they need. This may include therapy, counseling, and peer support groups." What can you do if  you or someone you know is experiencing mental health issues "You can contact Samaritans on 116 123, even if you just want to talk. You can also look up your local recovery café, a safe space to drop in or visit through self referral. Here you can go if you need mental health support or just a safe space to sit. They are all charity lead with professionals on board to help. To find your local recovery café, search on the internet or contact your local NHS crisis line who will be able to provide details for services such as recovery cafes in your local area." #changeplease #changepleasefoundation #10daysforchange Damaris Charnley Cemal Ezel OBE Robert Gillon Ken Love

Housing affordability, availability, and quality are crucial factors that influence homelessness rates and the experiences of those who are homeless. What are the issues? •Rising housing Costs makes it difficult for low-income individuals and families to afford stable housing. •Wages vs. Housing Costs have not risen equally •Significant reduction in the availability of social housing •Lack of housing availability and quality •Supply Shortages: resulting in the lack of new construction of affordable homes •Temporary accommodation provided by local authorities may not always be of high quality, impacting residents' physical and mental health. For 6 months we had a housing officer from Stonewall Housing join us on the Driving for Change busses, providing vital housing advice to all our guests. Partnerships with charities like Stonewall Housing, as well as London Housing Foundation and StreetLink are critical in helping people in their first steps out of homelessness. How can you help? •Engage in Advocacy and Campaigning •Join or Form Advocacy Groups that focus on housing issues or start your own group.  •Raise Awareness: Use various platforms, including social media, blogs, and community events, to raise awareness about housing issues and policy gaps.  •Lobbying: Directly engage with policymakers to present evidence, share personal stories, and advocate for specific changes. Request meetings, attend public consultations, and participate in parliamentary committees or local council meetings. Day 6 - Innovation 🔆 Innovative partnerships and collaborations are essential in tackling homelessness. The issue is complex and multifaceted, requiring a broad, holistic approach that no single organization or sector can achieve alone. By combining the strengths of diverse sectors—government, business, charities, and social enterprises—these partnerships have the potential to create sustainable solutions that can break the cycle of homelessness and rebuild lives. Hear from Keith Higham, Head of Impact Operations, who discusses the importance of innovation and some of the projects we've been working on with partners such as Colgate-Palmolive and Nespresso UK Find out more about the Nespresso for Change Please partnership https://lnkd.in/eYvsEqym #changeplease #changepleasefoundation #10daysforchange Cemal Ezel OBE Robert Gillon Ken Love Keith Higham Emmanuelle Davidson-Merritt

Come with us on our sponsored 10 Miles for Change walk! With the average rough sleeper walking 10 miles a day we wanted to put this into perspective to raise awareness around the critical issues those experiencing homelessness face every day. We walked from our Training Academy in Peckham (South London) to our Training Academy in Regents Place (North London), documenting the walk as we passed some of London’s most iconic buildings. Fundraising and volunteering is all about partnerships and we are so fortunate that so many of our corporate partners and customers want to support us beyond buying Change Please Coffee. From the Sponsored Abseil at Twickenham Stadium (England Rugby) to local fundraising by partners such as David Lloyd Clubs who continuously support us by hosting a number of fundraising events and classes across the country.
