It was great to see the Rural Urban Synthesis Society (RUSS) development in Lewisham fully launched, with 36 families now enjoying high-quality, sustainable, and permanently affordable housing. Joanne Wedderspoon, our Growth and Performance Lead of the Impact Accelerator, represented Charities Aid Foundation at the event to celebrate this milestone. Back in 2016, we provided RUSS with a £100,000 unsecured loan from the Community Land Trust Fund II to cover the planning stage costs for this project. It’s a privilege to have been an early supporter and to have witnessed their journey to this launch. Congratulations to RUSS and everyone involved—the impact of this scheme will benefit many generations to come. #AffordableHousing #SocialInvestment #CommunityLedHousing

Charities are stretched by the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and struggling to continue providing services to the people that need them. They need more support than ever, so here's how you can maximise giving to good causes ⬇️ ✅ Top-up regular donations Inflation is eroding the value of charity donations. If you make a regular donation to charity, consider if you can increase it to keep up with inflation. ✅ Ensure donations include Gift Aid With Gift Aid, charities can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you donate. But every year more than £500 million of Gift Aid goes unclaimed, according to the Charity Finance Group. ✅ Give from your pay Through payroll giving schemes, like CAF's Give As You Earn, employees can give to any UK registered charity straight from their salary. Donations are tax-effective because they are taken before income tax is applied. ✅ Donate for core costs Charities will particularly welcome ‘unrestricted funding’, not tied to a particular campaign, to cover their core costs at this time. ✅ Use Direct Debit Using this method can help charities to plan and ensures that any Gift Aid owed on the donation can be reclaimed by the charity. #Philanthropy #Charity #Giving

Employers, you have a crucial role to play in boosting employee engagement and adoption of Payroll Giving. Here's what you can do ⬇️ 1️⃣ Make signing up for your payroll giving scheme simple and communicate it as clearly and as often as possible. 2️⃣ Using different rewards is a great way to encourage engagement. There are various ways to attract attention – the easiest approach is to try a few different tactics with the resources you already have available. 3️⃣ We are influenced by the people around us — more so by the people we spend a lot of time with, like our colleagues. Pick a high profile leader or employee and ask them to sign your communications to encourage other colleagues. 4️⃣ Timing is everything. Introduce the scheme at the start of employment and use major events or fundraising campaigns as a hook to remind employees about the scheme. #PayrollGiving
