Analysis is a key part of making music. There are 2 ways in which producers will typically assess what has been made: With their ears. Playing the music back to see what it sounds like to them. They can then make judgements on what is working and what isn’t. They are also mindful that when listening to music, the environment has an impact on what it sounds like. Listeners have a different experience if they hear their favourite tune on the car radio, on their laptop or in a club, for example. With a sound frequency analyser. This gives them a visual of what the sound looks like, what the levels are and so on. This type of analysis allows them to move elements around and change the end result so that it meets their desired musical aims. What does this mean for your organisation’s culture? By using diagnostic tools to look at your organisation’s culture, you can get a clear picture of the current situation and identify what is working and what isn’t. For example, we have developed a culture styles framework called C8 which uses eight culture styles to analyse your culture. In the same way that a music producer uses an equalizer to address a too-dominant sound, you may find that your organisation has voices that dominate and look for ways to redress the levels. Or your analysis may show that you have too much ‘noise’ going on and need a greater focus on the work that will have the biggest impact on your cause. Leaders may think that they are listening to the people within their organisation, but it’s important to make sure that you are not just hearing a distorted version of what is going on. If you only receive feedback from the usual suspects or from teams who have the same working environment, you may only be getting a narrow view. Things to try today: Actively seek out a range of voices to listen to, covering different working environments, demographics and experiences. Review the metrics that you have available and what they tell you about your organisation.

About us
Charity Culture Catalyst is a community interest company whose mission is working to improve organisational culture, diversity and inclusion in the charity sector. Our motivation is simple. We’re here because we believe that charitable organisations change lives and are never more needed. We believe it because we’ve seen it. In some cases, day after day after day. We, the charity sector, are an incredible, multi-talented orchestra – an extraordinary symphonic, stadium- lifting rock group. 5 million strong. We face challenges – many of them – but we change lives every single minute of every single day. What a privilege.

Many graduates feel their ethnic background, social class, or gender are putting them at a disadvantage. For so many this will come down to bias held by their employers. If we don't reset this bias at the entry point, we are disadvantaging people not just at the begining but throughout their careers. It's time to change. https://lnkd.in/dmv_tcFA
