A short vídeo message from our Charterpath co-founders Alice and Alex to say a huge thanks to everyone who has supported Charterpath over the past three years - and to share the super exciting news that Charterpath is now a UK registered CHARITY!!! We are incredibly grateful to Robert Powell Emily Miller and all the team at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP who have invested countless hours of probono support to convert Charterpath from a non-profit community interest company (CIC) to a charity incorporated organisation (CIO) We’re more energised than ever to deliver our mission of charting a path between non-profits and volunteers with financial skills - so please encourage any finance professionals you know (accountants, bookkeepers, actuaries, analysts, financial advisers - the list goes on!) to follow us on LinkedIn so we can inspire them to volunteer their time and skills to a charity, school or community group!!! #charterpath #charity #financialskills #volunteer #nonprofits #partnership #probono

Charting a path between non-profits and volunteers with financial skills
About us
Charterpath is a UK registered charity (1207509) with the mission to chart a path between non-profits and volunteers with financial skills to build a stronger society and more fulfilling careers. Our goal is to significantly increase the proportion of finance professionals who volunteer with non-profits from the current level of around 10% to over 50%, making volunteering a fundamental part of what it means to be a finance professional. Alex Marsh and Alice Stein are long-standing friends and former colleagues, qualifying together at PwC as chartered accountants. They were inspired to co-found Charterpath during the pandemic having both volunteered from early stages in their careers for a wide variety of non-profits, and realising that with a little encouragement many more finance professionals could benefit from this experience. They have launched Charterpath to inspire, connect and engage more finance professionals to volunteer their time and skills to charities, schools and community groups.

💚"...one of the most rewarding things I have ever done, both personally and professionally". Ayan Man Ayan said #CountMeIn to using her superpower - volunteering her finance skills as a trustee for THE MAYA CENTRE, and the rewards really paid off. 💜Established in 1984, the Maya Centre is a community-based charity in Islington providing free, culturally sensitive counselling, group work and complementary therapies. They support women on low incomes whose mental health has been affected by a range of experiences including depression and anxiety, violence against women and girls, inequality, discrimination and racism. They work together to give women from different cultural and language backgrounds more voice, choice and control over their wellbeing and life decisions. 💬“As a mother to two young daughters, I am passionate about making the world a safer and more equal place for them and future generations of women." Read Ayan's volunteer story on the Charterpath website and find inspiration from her experience. Consider using your skills as a trustee for a cause you're passionate about. 🙋Join the community of skilled volunteers saying #CountMeIn this Trustees' Week. Thank you for sharing your story with us Ayan, and inspiring others to volunteer their skills. 😇📈Count Me In is a campaign to inspire more finance professionals into volunteering as finance trustees and to support charities in finding the financial expertise they need to thrive. 💚Join Charterpath this Trustee Week and make your skills count. 💚As part of our #CountMeIn campaign this Trustees' Week, listen to the inspiring reasons why Laura Walker volunteers her time as trustee with Citizens Advice Leeds and Older Citizens Advocacy York (OCAY) 👉 Hear Laura share why she values being a trustee and what she gains from the experience. For Laura, her trustee roles are more than a commitment—they’re a way to use her finance skills to support causes she cares deeply about. If you’re a finance professional, consider the impact your expertise could have in a trustee role. Whether you’re a CFO, auditor, or analyst, charities across the UK need your skills to strengthen their financial foundations. As a mum of two, entrepreneur, and on Charterpath 's Advisory Board, Laura proves that even with a busy schedule, making time to give back is possible—and incredibly fulfilling. 😇📈Count Me In is a campaign to inspire more finance professionals into volunteering as finance trustees and to support charities in finding the financial expertise they need to thrive. 🙌Finance Professionals! #CountMeIn if you're a finance trustee #CountMeIn if you're interested in becoming a finance trustee 🙌Charities! #CountMeIn if you're a charity celebrating your finance trustee #CountMeIn if you're a charity in need of a finance trustee 🧭Charting a path between charities and finance professionals #Charterpath #volunteering #nonprofits #charities #finance #accounting #TrusteesWeek #CountMeIn Alice (Stein) Clementi Alex Marsh Khurrum Beg Eleanor Norton Jordan Hart Sara Wrinch (nee Donaldson)

35%! That is the number of small charities with an annual income < £1m which are in need of Board level finance skills according to NCVO's Trustees' Week report. 35%! OMG. Small charities are a lifeline to many people and their communities. Many are facing very real - for some potentially existential - financial challenges. And it's not easy to resolve. Restrictions on funds make the bookkeeping a gordian knot which obscures the financial position. Under funded commissioned contracts put pressure on reserves. Demand on services creates a moral urgency. Situations are uncertain and changeable making financial planning a challenge. Navigating all of this sucessfully requires skills - finance skills! Being a small charity trustee and using finance skills to change the world is immensely rewarding. There is something quietly purposeful about spending time working with other folks to solve a very real, often high stakes, challenge. If you ever read the daily paper and think blimey, it's all a bit shit isn't it, I can promise you that volunteering and becoming part of a small charity community will change all of that. It is, hands down, the best type of community to be part of. It's over quoted but I am going to quote it anyway. 'Never doubt that small group of committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.' Margaret Mead. If you are a finance professional and you are interested in joining the Board of a small charity, check out Reach Volunteering, Charterpath and Honorary Treasurers Forum. Opportunities aplenty folks. #CountMeIn #TrusteesWeek2024 https://lnkd.in/dGsvVxa2
