Ride across the country in one day. Coast to coast, east to west, sunrise to sunset.

About us

Chase The Sun: the Ultimate Endurance Cycling Event Chase The Sun is a simple idea, with a unique philosophy. The challenge: ride across the country in one day. Coast to coast, east to west, dawn to dusk. Originally conceived by Olly Moore in 2008, the concept is unique: this event is a ride, not a race, it is a collective endeavour shared by a community of cyclists inspired in pursuit of a common goal. Chase The Sun UK South starts at sunrise on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, crossing a diverse section of the country, encompassing the urban sprawl of London, country lanes, green vales and the mighty Cheddar Gorge, ending at sunset at the Grand Pier at Weston Super Mare on the Somerset coast some 205 miles later. Chase The Sun Italy is a spectacular 270 kilometre route full of scenic climbing and thrilling descents, it traverses the country from Cesenatico, birthplace of Marco Pantani, over the Appenine mountains, scenic Tuscan hills and vineyards, and passing historic cultural landmarks in Florence and Pisa, to arrive at the Tirrenian sea, on the coast west of Pisa. Chase The Sun UK North starts on the beachfront in Whitley Bay and takes in the wild hills, forests and rivers of Northumberland and the dramatic southern uplands of Scotland, crossing historic bridges and epic wilderness, riding over 200 miles to reach a view of mid-summer sunset over the Firth of Clyde from Ayr seafront. Chase the Sun Ireland starts at sunrise on the Irish Sea at the historic Titanic docks of Belfast, proceeds up the dramatic coastal road and through the Antrim Glens before heading inland to traverse forests, mountains, and loughs. Riders explore the mythical landscapes and landmarks of the ’emerald isle’. The route crosses the border of Northern and Republic of Ireland, and finishes after 209 miles at sunset on the Atlantic beaches of Enniscrone. Next rides on 22nd June 2024!

  • CHASING THE SUN FEATURE DOCUMENTARY AVAILABLE NOW ON DIGITAL PLATFORMS We are super proud of this film! Whether you're a Chase The Sun veteran or newbie, there's no better expression of the essence of the CTS ethos and experience: coast to coast, sunrise to sunset, 200+ miles in one day. A ride, not a race... At its core is the original idea of CTS Founder Oliver Moore who set out on a personal odyssey back in 2008 to see just how far he could ride on the summer solstice. And alongside this, director Michael Clifford weaves togther multiple stories and themes, all with the ultimate aim of exploring the power of the humble bicycle to transform individual lives and communities and to help save the planet. Huge thanks Co-Producer Pip Piper and to all who played a part in the film. Viewing options include Vimeo On Demand (with exclusive bonus interview with director Michael B Clifford and contributor Emma Street in collaboration with Picturehouse Cinemas), Adventure Sports TV and AMAZON PRIME. • CHASE THE SUN IS HEADLINE SPONSOR OF PASS THE PEDALL 2024 Chase the Sun are delighted to announce that we are supporting the PASS THE PEDALL charity fundraising challenge this September. At Chase the Sun we are increasingly looking to support wider cycling community initiatives, with the aim of helping to encourage everyone to appreciate the benefits of cycling. PEDALL New Forest Inclusive Cycling is an organisation that ensures that regardless of physical or intellectual ability, age or confidence level, riders are able to enjoy and explore the natural beauty of the New Forest by cycle. Pass the PEDALL is a sponsored fundraiser, a dawn-to-dusk relay challenge taking place at New Park Manor in Brockenhurst on Wednesday 18th September 2024. The event will bring PEDALL’s inclusive cycling community together to ensure a ‘Pedal Baton’ keeps moving between multiple groups of riders who between them will aim to cycle non-stop for 12 hours. Chase the Sun is sponsoring the event and a team of riders fundraising for PedALL inclusive cycling charity based in the New Forest. "PEDALL are such a brilliant charity project helping many people benefit from cycling who may not otherwise get a chance to ride – whether it is a challenge to ride for an hour, or all day until sunset – at Chase the Sun we hope to support everyone to ‘keep on pedalling’ towards the mental and physical benefits of cycling for all!” Olly Moore, Chase the Sun Founder Find out how you can support our fund-raising efforts for PEDALL: https://lnkd.in/eTevm92Z
