This summer we are inviting children aged 4 to 11 to create and share their own Chatta stories in our new festival of stories, the Chatta Summer Story Festival. Children can make the stories themselves or with family members using the Chatta software. Chatta stories are like talking postcards, combining sequences of images and voice recordings, and making them helps children’s creativity, imagination, vocabulary use and oral language skills. The short stories can be about anything at all! A simple suggestion is to think of a character, a setting, an activity the character is involved in, a problem, a solution and an ending. The stories can be adventure stories, mystery stories, exciting stories, true stories – any type of stories! Pictures can be chosen directly from the Chatta software, or photos can be added, of toys, pets, places, drawings…anything!. The Chatta software has voice recording buttons on every picture to make storytelling so easy. Making stories with Chatta is quick, fun and the possibilities are endless. It’s free to take part and to get involved parents/carers can register by completing this short form to receive access to the software, instructions on how to make a Chatta story, and some ideas and suggestions. Any stories the children make can be entered into our ‘Chatta Summer Story Festival’ so their stories can be shared for others to enjoy! https://lnkd.in/ent3sfeD #stories #storytelling #oracy #vocabulary #eyfs #ks1 #ks2

Is your school m focusing on vocabulary use, oral sentence composition, subject understanding and removing barriers to writing? Chatta Works! It’s quick, simple, always effective and adaptable to any outcome, subject, age group and language. Chatta is a powerful classroom approach that has a positive impact on children’s language development, vocabulary use, and writing skills. Here are some key points about why Chatta works: Structured Oracy Work: Chatta provides structured opportunities for purposeful oracy work across all curriculum areas. It emphasizes accurate sentence structure through teacher modeling, which leads to pupils’ oral composition and rehearsal. Rich Vocabulary Development: Chatta sessions create a platform for developing rich vocabulary. Children have opportunities to use and apply new words in appropriate contexts. The use of images reduces cognitive overload, allowing them to focus on speaking and vocabulary. Maximized Participation: The Chatta structure maximizes full participation. Repeated routines build familiarity, and children’s confidence increases. It’s a safe environment where children can practice without pressure to speak out individually or record their voice. Reduced Teacher Workload: Chatta is user-friendly, with an extensive bank of images and templates. Teachers find it accessible and easy to follow. The coherent structure supports progress in speaking and writing, removing barriers for children facing challenges. In summary, Chatta ensures attentive listeners, confident speakers, and fearless writers, impacting oracy, vocabulary, and long-term memory. If you’d like to see Chatta in action at your school, you can arrange a free demonstration by contacting our team: hello@chatta.co.uk #vocabulary #oracy #writing #inclusion #eal #send

“We are storytelling creatures, and as children we acquire language to tell those stories that we have inside us.” Through storytelling, children express their feelings and experiences, helping them understand and manage their emotions better. It also promotes empathy as they create and understand characters’ perspectives. Sharing their stories with others can boost children’s self-esteem and confidence, as they take pride in their creations and communication skills. https://lnkd.in/eDq5kwtd

The Dynamic Duo of Images and Language Talk is a halfway house between thinking and writing: how can teaching with pictures remove barriers to oral composition? Class teacher, Lauren Williams saw the impact Chatta made for the class. ‘The entire class explored language collectively, fostering improvement in sentences through whole class, paired, and individual activities. Students, regardless of their challenges eagerly participated. Notably, a shy boy with ASD surprised everyone by confidently showcasing new-found adventurous language skills. This positive experience extended beyond the lesson, as he now actively engages in debates and discussions. The emphasis on verbal expression translated to confident independent writing, demonstrating focused application of high-quality language. Weeks later, students continue to reference and apply persuasive vocabulary learned during the session.’ Read more ⬇️ (and watch a classroom video of Chatta in action!) https://lnkd.in/ewfzQM3s
