The Sexual Health London (SHL) clinical team were honoured to be invited by the Vogueing Community from the Kiki House of Laveaux to attend the 'On the Block Kiki Ball' as part of the Peckham Festival. The Vogueing Community is the one of the cornerstones of the LGBTQ+ community and are queer individuals, mostly from marginalised backgrounds who traditionally have difficulties in accessing healthcare. Senior Health Adviser, Neil Baulita, shares "through this outreach activity, we are breaking the barriers of health inequalities by being present in their community in such big gathering. There is so much more we can do for these communities and by continuing this partnership we can prevent the stigma in testing for any sexually transmitted infection."

Last week, the Acute Medicine team at West Middlesex took part in national #CelebratingAcuteMedicineWeek. Acute Medicine is a relatively new specialty, but has rapidly grown over the last two decades. We’re very lucky to have a dynamic group of specialty consultants, who work alongside our amazing nursing staff, resident doctors, pharmacists and therapies teams to ensure patient admitted with acute medical illnesses receive the care they need and return home as quickly as possible.

Last weekend, surgical teams from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital carried out their highest ever number of robotic-assisted surgeries during the latest landmark 'super surgery weekend.’ Both upper gastrointestinal, gynaecology and general surgery teams were able to operate on significantly more patients than usual - seeing a total of 59 patients in one weekend. The upper gastrointestinal and bariatric general surgery teams (pictured top) operated on almost a month’s worth of patients, completing 29 surgeries to treat common conditions including gallstone disease. The gynaecology surgical team (pictured bottom) safely completed 30 robotic hysterectomies - operating on more than five times the usual number of patients. This tried and tested high intensity list method allows us to use resources more efficiently and safely see even more patients. Well done to our teams! We are #proud to share that our Critical Care Outreach teams at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and West Middlesex Hospital have won the Patient Safety Team of the Year award at this year's #HSJ Patient Safety Awards 💙 The Critical Care Outreach Team won for its impact in improving the recognition and escalation of deteriorating patients (REDP) in the adult in-patient wards. The REDP project, a Horizon Fellowship project supported by CW Innovation, supports early recognition and escalation when a patient's condition is deteriorating, helping to increase the chances of survival and recovery. This award is testament to the incredible work that the entire team is doing to support vulnerable patients, taking the initiative to make early, lifesaving interventions.
