Today, at Children of the Mekong, we are honouring 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝗿𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱!! 🌏 ✨ Through education, we strive to break the barriers which young girls face throughout Southeast Asia, empowering them to dream bigger, aim higher, and become leaders in their communities.📚💪 Girls are less likely to finish their schooling compared to their male counterparts, and are disproportionally affected by the climate crisis, poverty, and conflict. 🔔 Despite the civil war, Children of the Mekong has been able to continue their support to thousands of children in Myanmar. Today, we are delighted to share this heartwarming video made by some of them! The children are taking us all around their school to show us where they eat, how they brush their teeth and even the school supply room! There is a chance you have never seen that before! 😉 🏫 At the Gaw Khee school, funded and run by an inspiring man Eh Twa, 184 children are sponsored so they can go to school, be fed and dressed. Yesterday was World Legacy Giving Day, and we would like to thank all our benefactors. 💚 🙏 Thanks to their legacies, life insurance and gifts, thousands of children can continue to go to school and live with dignity. Donations are precious, they fund classrooms, schools, homes, educational projects and improve the living conditions of the poorest children. This year : 🚲 A gift of £1,200 allowed us to buy 30 bicycles for one of our education centres in Cambodia. 👗 A gift of £70,000 has allowed us to build a professional sewing workshop and a hairdressing school in Laos for high school students! 🎓 With a legacy of £85,000 we were able to finance informal classes in Myanmar for 6,250 Burmese children, avoiding them being recruited as child soldiers. Young or old, these legacies change lives! As part of our partnership with #COLASFOUNDATION, we are proud to have welcomed 6 Colas Rail Filipino collaborators for a weekend at our student center in Cebu City. This was a wonderful opportunity for them to share their skills and experience with 50 Filipino students from particularly disadvantaged backgrounds.   🚀 Day 1: Focus on Professional Integration 🌟 The students prepared for their entry into the job market through workshops on creating resumes, writing cover letters, and participating in mock interviews. Icebreaker activities also helped to strengthen the bond among the participants.   🏗️ Day 2: Enhancing Technical Skills 🛠️ Sunday was dedicated to specialized training, including construction regulations for infrastructure such as subways and trains, as well as project management for complex initiatives.   Thank you to Colas Rail for their commitment and to everyone who made this weekend possible. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future for these young talents! Children of Mekong is an international NGO with headquarters in France. This NGO supports young people by giving them access to valuable education. They act in Southeast Asian countries: Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. The main objective is to offer children activities such as developing their soft skills, company visits, enhancing their communication skills and computer skills. MYANMAR - EDUCATION IN CRISIS This article describes the dramatic state of the education system in Myanmar since the coup in 2021. Hundreds of thousands of children and young people have been forced out of the school system for economic or security reasons. Children of the Mekong has been continuing to sponsor 3,000+ children all across the country so that they can keep on with their education in this time of civil war and economic crisis.
