Circular Coast Clothing-Clothes, shoes or accessories that are repaired, restored redesigned & resold #WearCareRepair

About us

Circular Cost Clothing is about restoration and reinvention of textile destined for landfill. What do we mean.... From saving textile from landfill, then re-designing out of that waste textile, we are aiming to re-route the traditional ‘doomed' journey for pieces of clothing and any other textile. Most fashion products are made from new textiles, sold, worn, discarded and eventually to landfill. Circular Coast Clothing can be defined as clothes, shoes or accessories that are repaired, restored or redesigned with the intention to be used and circulated responsibly and effectively for as long as possible. We begin our journey at The West Pier, Scarborough creating and making; looking to collaborate and partner with businesses and the community to create a TEXTILE SCRAP STORE using a #Wearcarerepair membership scheme, we aim to influence change in fashion We aim to recover unused and unwanted textile fabrics that would otherwise end up in landfill, working with communities to create community projects and to change our mindset around sustainable fashion - ReStore Textile Scrap Store will challenge the way we shop, using re-sale as the platform, wear care and repair will become our gold nugget, rental of clothing is the future!

I have worked with Rebecca Cole on both Unique Boutique for Channel 4 and contributing to the foreword for her book- All Access Sewing. She is one of the most incredible seamstresses and pattern cutters I have EVER worked with and I’m sharing in the hope someone here in my network can snap her up quick- there should be a path beaten to her do to hire her.

I am heartbroken. And angry. And sad. Create & Craft is no more and I am left in debt due to unpaid invoices, and no longer able to work with the amazing colleagues and friends I made there. More than this, I say goodbye to an accessible job. Do you know how hard they are to come by? I was able to earn enough to pay my bills on a schedule that enabled me to manage my disabilities. I am very highly qualified in what I do, but what I do is relatively niche. On top of finding a role I'm suited to, it needs to be within an organisation that values accessibility outside of just saying the right things. I was even told by a well meaning family member that I shouldn't put that I am autistic and ADHD on my CV (despite the fact that my most recent work is in disability advocation) because it might prevent people from considering me. Despite my horror at this suggestion, the awful truth is he is probably right. And that makes me sadder than anything. I am an amazing dressmaker and pattern drafter but here are some of my other skills... * Eloquent public speaker * Unstoppable in a crisis * Authoritative problem solver * Dynamic project co-ordinator * Honest, integral, and passionate * Awesome pattern recognition - I see ten steps ahead in any situation and can plan accordingly * Creative and fast thinking These are just some of my powerful Autistic strengths, these are the qualities I can bring to a role which make me exactly the best qualified. Will I require clear communication, flexible working, a quiet space to work in? Yes absolutely, but give me those things and I'll be the best person you ever hired. Employers should never see any disability as a reason not to hire someone, whether from concious or unconcious bias. And a disabled person should not have the added fear that there wont be an accessible role for them to move on to when dealing with the grief of the sudden loss of their job. #disability #createandcraft #autistic #accessiblejobs #adhd

  • Another amazing collaboration with the University recently and this time the beneficiaries Filey Cat Rescue! Sunday we delivered lots of fabulous clothing to help support our furry friends at Filey Cat Rescue. Link in the comments... They are desperate for volunteers for their fantastic shop if you are looking for something special to do with your time 😻 After donating our time to talk, delivering equipment and then transporting items, we will be celebrating with a cat cuddle 😻 #GiveAndTake #SwopShop #CircularEconomy #Collaboration #Volunteer Alt text a bootful of colourful carrier bags filled with surplus clothing being transported to Filey Cat Rescue charity shop and 6 black and white cats all looking to be rehomed

Founder and CEO at thelittleloop | Circular Economy Leader / Sustainability Entrepreneur of the Year (GBEA) | Our store opens this month!

When customers give unsolicited feedback that your product is better than anything else on the market there’s no feeling quite like it. When that same feedback comes from your B2B customers too the feeling is amplified 100fold. I’m just off a call with a brand who will be using our new brand-integrated clothing take-back platform RELOOP to drive their circularity efforts. They had previously used one of the market leading take-back providers to create a take-back scheme. But after a year found there was limited customer uptake, the monthly cost was too high, and they sadly ended up ceasing the programme. Since then they’ve spoken with numerous other providers but found their solutions clunky, difficult to put in place, and ultimately off putting. The net result of this poor execution? Less circularity. Until now. We’ve ploughed 4 years of firsthand, circularity experience and customer conversations into building RELOOP. It’s designed to be so easy for customer to use it that it becomes a question of why not, rather than why. And Brands love it because it’s risk free, cost free, effort free and guarantees a return. In the words of the wonderful team I just spoke with “it’s just so smooth!”. As a result we’re launching RELOOP with 6 more brands over the next month. And there are more in the pipeline! If you’d like to learn more please DM me. We’re just getting started… Or learn more here: https://lnkd.in/eftyv6cP And see RELOOP in action here: https://lnkd.in/eDnMrX2b #circulareconomy #takeback #circularsolutions #usercentreddesign #secondhandseptember

Restoring Loved and Memorable Items... Why we created the #WearCareRepair Campaign... We can often find ourselves replacing items as soon as they show signs of wear and tear. So what if we shifted our mindset and put more emphasis on restoring and cherishing the things we love? That's exactly what the #WearCareRepair Campaign aimed to do... #TextileTalks created a space to talk about the importance of giving longevity to items that hold sentimental value and cherished memories... Sometimes, it's hard to let go of an item that has witnessed countless memories and special moments... This suitcase is one of those items, it holds a sentimental value that cannot be replaced...* We did that, we explored why restoring loved and memorable items should be a part of our collective consciousness... We understood the power of sentimental value, and the stories it tells... *restoration story in the comments 👀 #TextileTalks #CircularConversations #ConsumersPower #RefuseNew Alt text a beautiful black with silver trim BARROW HEPBURN & GALE LTD vanity case, restored and returned to its original owner, shows on a snow path with black railings and green trees

We are getting together in Malton on Wednesday 31 July from 2pm to discuss a range of potential opportunities for inspiration, collaboration and partnership working.    We’re hosting this session with Circular Malton and Norton CIC to bring together like-minded VCSE organisations and groups. • Refuse the conversation we need to start having... Have you Refused anything recently? I have, and it has already had a ripple effect... Consumers have the power to make changes... Realise YOUR power... #Refuse #Refuse #Refuse

Refuse, Reduce, Reuse... Then Recycle... and if Rots it should be STOPPED... We used this picture to describe what we feel is an important conversation about customer experience... When exploring textile waste, this is where Design is key to the beginning of that textiles journey, anything else should be called out and held up as to why we are still using a textile known to be environmentally challenging... When knowing what damage it will do when being created it doesn't justify any type of fashionable trend anymore... How do we 'Influence' fashion... By REFUSING to buy NEW... #Refuse #Reduce #Reuse #Reinvent #RefuseNew *this led to another conversation about 'new to you' and sustainability, and that's one to share another day... • After our recent talk for the Parkinson's UK Scarborough Support group we were delighted to have more offers of clothing with history, while we may have stopped trading, Emma's still talking... #TextileTalks #CreatingCommunityConversations #WhoseNext ...

We loved to create positive change with the help of our amazing volunteers! 👏 We truly believed in the power of collaboration, consideration, and celebration for making a difference in our community and we still do... Our team of volunteers who selflessly dedicate their time and energy to support our campaign #WearCareRepair do so with such grace... Their commitment is what made our activism meaningful and impactful, and because of them, we're going back to our roots, embracing anonymous repairs! ♻️ So this month as they continue repairing and upcycling clothing and other textile items, we won't be telling anyone! 👀 Whether it's a tear, a broken zipper, or just a need for a fresh look, our skilled team will work their magic to breathe new life into garments and then donate them to a local Charity, quietly 🤫 We believe in taking action, not getting distracted, when it comes to sustainability. Too much social media makes for too much distraction 👀 #Sew #Activism #Action #WearCareRepair
