The government announced their #AutumnBudget on Wednesday 30 October. But what does this mean for you? 👛 ➡️ If you’re under State Pension age and you get benefits, they’ll go up by 1.7% in April 2025 ➡️ The ‘weekly earnings limit’ for Carer’s Allowance will be increased. If you're a carer, this means you'll be able to earn around £30 more each week from employment or self-employment ➡️ The National Minimum Wages will increase for everyone from April 2025 ➡️ The amount of Income Tax and National Insurance you pay will stay the same. ➡️ The Household Support Fund will continue until 2026. This is funding that the government gives to local councils. You might be able to get help from the Fund if you’re struggling to afford things like household bills and essential items, like clothes or an oven. ✨ Our Race Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage Equity Group (REACH) marked #BlackHistoryMonth with their members! REACH organised an insightful panel discussion with Amnesty International UK on the theme #ReclaimingNarratives with Citizens Advice colleagues and artist Cornerlious Browne. They were joined by Sudanese visual artist Alaa Satir to explore political cartooning, how to interpret them and create their own cartoons which tell individual and collective narratives. REACH also heard from our Black policy interns who joined us through the The 10,000 Interns Foundation on their experiences working at Citizens Advice. It was a wonderful day full of learning, reflections and celebrations!
