The Paris 2024 Summer #Olympic Games kick off today for the next month followed by the Paralympics. We’re excited to see high-profile events like these piloting a reuse system on a large scale, although there is still some way to go! We’ve broken down our thoughts on which practices are a step in the right direction, and which ones we'd like to see them picking up the pace on. ✅ Commitment to reduce single-use plastic for drinks and catering by 50% at Olympic venues. ✅Visitors provided with five eco-tips including recommendation to use reusable bottles ✅Law in France to have tap water access points clearly visible with signage ✅ The Coca-Cola Company (the world’s top plastic polluter) ARE participating in the reuse system 🙏 👎 Some big venues like train stations, sports stadiums and museums aren’t adhering to the law to clearly signpost water refill points 👎More than 40% of drinks will still be served in single-use plastic bottles 👎Coca-Cola need to do more to show its genuine commitment to sustainability and outline exactly how they’ll have 25% reusable packaging by 2030 rather than focussing on recycled plastic bottles 👎Some of the sport federations are still opting for single-use bottles instead of reusable We'd love to hear your thoughts on what you'd like to see more or less of at high-profile events like this...

We’re City to Sea, a campaigning organisation on a mission to stop plastic pollution at source.
About us
City to Sea's campaigns are designed to stop plastic pollution at source. We tackle the single-use plastic items most found on our beaches, and in our rivers and oceans. We focus on stopping plastic at source by reducing demand, so our beaches won’t need to be cleaned in the future. We run people-powered, community serving campaigns and develop simple solutions to complicated problems. We believe collective action is key to lasting behaviour change and encourage everyone to rethink, refuse, reduce and reuse across all our campaigns. We are now a team of 27* located all over England & Wales, with Bristol as our home. We're made up of everyday people doing extraordinary things - we're campaigners, activists, volunteers, academics, influencers, techies, strategists, creatives, partnership managers, social marketeers and so much more! City to Sea was founded in 2015 by environmental campaigner Natalie Fee. Our vision is a world where everyone connects their actions to our oceans so all life can thrive. www.facebook.com/citytosea twitter.com/CitytoSea_ instagram.com/citytosea_

Here's just a glimpse at what each of our Refill Destinations receive when they first come onboard with us – and a big thank you to DPD Eco Fund for helping us develop and deliver this! If you’d like to find out more about what it means to be a Refill Destination and how we will support you to increase access to refillable products and services as well as develop reuse schemes in your community and more, please get in touch with Cyan Stuart our Refill Community Coordinator 👋 Or if you’re already a Refill Destination, be sure to join our next training session on Wednesday 31st of July from 12pm to 1pm to ensure you’re getting the most out of these resources! Collaboration is the key to success for us to achieve our mission. Earlier this year we were excited to launch a new purposeful partnership with Ocean Bottle. Read all about the reusable bottle brand who go the extra mile to stop plastic from polluting our oceans as well as their social equity work👏 why they chose to collaborate with us and what we'll be looking to achieve through our partnership! https://lnkd.in/exaNPEih

Charlie Bradley is in need of approximately 80 more UK participants for his research into reusable packaging systems. Anyone can participate - both users and non-users of reuse systems!
Reusable Packaging Enthusiast - Design for Sustainability - Doctoral Researcher at Brunel University
⭐ Thank you to everyone who has participated so far! ⭐ https://lnkd.in/ep8-TbUr ⁉ After reviewing my dataset, I am in need of approximately 80 more UK participants! If possible, please help by giving this a share! Anyone can participate - both users and non-users of reuse systems, and your help is greatly appreciated! 🔃 To re-cap, the survey only takes 5-10 minutes to complete, and all responses will be kept anonymous. Your input helps identify current consumer's perception, behaviours and trends for reusable packaging systems, with insights aiding the design of effective reuse systems. So, please help!! Your assistance in spreading the word about this survey would be highly appreciated, and it is a good cause!! #reuse #sustainability #design #research #positivity #help #sustainable #consumption #netzero #zerowaste #waste #resources

We're so pleased to see a #zerowasteecomony as a top priority for you Steve Reed 👏 👏 We've already set out a road map on how to transition from single-use to reuse as part of our Reuse Manifesto here at City to Sea. We want to see: - Support for a legally binding global plastics treaty - Roll out of Extended Producer Responsibility - Ambitious and legally binding targets for 30% of packaging to be reusable by 2030 - A complete ban on single-use packaging where it's sensible to do so, like in dine-in settings - An all-in deposit return scheme - A cap and reduction on UK plastic production We join the call for change! 🌎
“We are facing a crisis point...but the work of change has begun”. Welcome to Secretary of State for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, Steve Reed. Watch to find out about his plan for change.

We've been working with Greater Manchester Combined Authority since April 2023 through our Refill campaign 🤝 After a successful year teaming up to help them reduce waste and make Greater Manchester greener, here's a round up from them about what it means to be a Refill Destination, the impact so far and what happens next. https://lnkd.in/eiJSgUDG #refill #refilldestination #combinedauthority #localauthority #council #greatermanchester #sustainablity

Thanks to all the generous donations, we’ve raised £10,000 and hit a third of our target in our #StepUpForReuse Crowdfunder UK 🎉 With your continued support we can keep powering change from grassroots to government - putting pressure on our local leaders to step up and stop plastic pollution at a time when it REALLY matters 👊 Donations will train up community activists to directly influence legislative change in their local area and it’s apt timing with the #GeneralElection and an imminent new government. This is our chance to call for systemic change that puts a stop to plastic pollution for good. https://lnkd.in/eheV2wnJ
