Enabling civil society organisations to survive and thrive, in order to serve the communities they know and love.
We want communities to be healthier, more equal and more cohesive. And we believe civil society holds the key! Where public services have fallen short, civil society has complemented the gaps. What’s more, civil society organisations (CSOs) are often better placed support people and communities, because they are agile and trusted (and generally BRILLIANT!) However, they need support.
Our mission is to support civil society organisations by being a reliable source of excellent support that is either affordable or free (grassroots organisations led by and for marginalised communities).
Over the last four and a half years, our team of non-profit consultants has supported over 250 organisations advancing health, equality and social cohesion, through providing affordable or free support across the UK. We have come to realise that all the issues we work on have a shared root cause: lack of social connection and loss of community. Isolation and loneliness has a detrimental effect on individuals. What’s more, widespread loneliness leads to social fragmentation, which inhibits democracy. Therefore, without connection and community, we are unhappy, unhealthy, divided and disempowered.
We've launched a major initiative called 32 Steps to Togetherness, based on a practical guide of 32 actions that we can all take to build connections - as individuals and as community leaders. We want to support, celebrate and inspire civil society organisations that are bringing people together in their respective communities across the UK - and we want to bring them together in a community of community leaders, which is united behind the 32 Steps vision and sharing 32 Steps to Togetherness in their respective communities.
